Hotel Catalonia Sagrada Familia

The Hotel Catalonia Sagrada Familia's 160 rooms are arrayed in four mid-size buildings. Guests enter to a contemporary lobby with tables and chocolate-brown and red sofas and armchairs. Some of the lower-end rooms are a little small, but all rooms are clean and have decent, firm bedding plus free Wi-Fi and flat-panel TVs. The hotel draws mostly tourists, so the hotel tends to be quiet during the day as guests are out and about in Barcelona. When guests return, they can refresh themselves in the small outdoor pool, and sun themselves on the landscaped deck. The breakfast buffet (for a fee) is ample.

In El Clot district on the busy Calle Aragon street, Hotel Catalonia Sagrada Familia is a little ways from central Barcelona attractions such as Casa Mila, La Rambla and the waterfront. But the Metro station at Clot is just a two-minute stroll north, for easy access to the rest of the city. The heart of Eixample is less than 15 minutes by Metro or bus, and La Rambla less than 20. The main nearby attraction is the Sagrada Familia, at nine blocks (about 15 minutes' walk) southwest of the hotel. Also nearby are the Placa Glories Catalanes (three blocks south) and Museu de La Musica, about a 15-minute walk south.

The 160 clean, modern rooms at the Hotel Catalonia Sagrada Familia are decorated in browns, tans, and creams. Standard rooms are small, with the Single clocking in at just 140 square feet and the Double at 190 square feet. The upgraded rooms top 300 square feet, however. Beds are firm and comfortable but not super plush, and some guests may experience noise issues in the street-facing lower-level rooms. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-panel TVs, in-room safes and marble bathrooms with hairdryers. Some bathrooms have showers only, while some rooms feature free chocolates, free bottled water and minibars (items for a fee).

A small outdoor pool tops the list of the hotel's modest array of property facilities. It's a decent spot to take a refreshing dip, followed or preceded by sunbathing on the landscaped wooden deck. The breakfast buffet (for a fee) is copious and features Spanish potato omelets, Catalan bread with tomato, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, bread, juice, coffee and more. The hotel also has a public computer with Internet (fees may apply), a coffee bar, a lunch and dinner restaurant, and parking (for a fee). There is no fitness center or sauna.
