The One Barcelona is an 88-room luxury boutique hotel with an enviable city-center location near Las Ramblas, Passeig de Gracia, and Plaza Catalunya. Sophisticated, neutral-tone rooms and suites have modern technology, minibars, bathrobes, and swish marble bathrooms. The One Barcelona

Scene

A modern, posh boutique with a heavy eye for design and scenic rooftop areas

Elegance, style, and natural light are all big factors in the design of The One Barcelona. Neutral tones -- with some pleasant pops of blue in seating and contemporary artwork -- modern furniture, and luxe materials all combine for an overall tone that's sophisticated and upscale, though the vibe remains casual and welcoming. Expect canvas folding chairs, marble floors, metallic accents, and tons of floor-to-ceiling windows to soak in views of the city center. The most attractive spot to take in the vistas during warmer months is the rooftop lounge and infinity pool. This luxury boutique ticks a lot of boxes, especially for being a city hotel, and it's a good option for both couples and families on vacation.

The One Barcelona has a stellar location for travelers who want to be within walking distance to several main arteries in the heart of the city. This tourist-heavy spot is not for everyone, but it's great for walkers on a mission. Gaudi's Casa Mila is a block away, as is Passeig de Gracia. Plus, visitors can walk to Placa de Catalunya in 15 minutes. Other nearby hot spots include Casa Batllo (eight minutes on foot), La Sagrada Familia (16 minutes), and the top of Las Ramblas (20 minutes). Rooms

Sleek, sophisticated rooms with marble bathrooms and modern technology; some with balconies

The One Barcelona's 88 rooms and suites are sophisticated with their neutral color palettes, gold metal accents and fixtures, and original contemporary artworks. However, it's worth noting that several rooms open directly into the bathroom, making for an unusual layout that can be hit or miss with guests. Additionally, rooms on lower floors are more subject to street noise. On the plus side, all rooms come with minibars, pillow-top mattresses with Egyptian cotton sheets, and Natura Bisse, Barcelona toiletries. Technology includes 55-inch SMART TVs with media hubs and international channels, AC, electronic blackout curtains, Nespresso machines, and USB charging outlets. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in a good amount of natural light, though, as a city hotel, many views are of neighboring buildings. Marble bathrooms feel luxe and contemporary thanks to sleek in-mirror lighting, rainfall showers, and comfy bathrobes.

Upgrading to a Junior Suite adds a stylish sitting area with a sofa bed, freestanding soaking tub, and openable windows. Junior Suite Corner rooms have a slightly different layout consisting of a partial wall divider between the sitting and sleeping areas, two walls of windows for double the view, and two TVs. Balconies are available starting with the Grand Terrace Deluxe, which also has Bluetooth speakers and excellent views over the city, though they lack tubs. Suite Barcelona has a separate living room space and soaking tub. Further suite upgrades include spacious terraces with loungers, whirlpools, and showers. Many rooms and suites connect to create a larger spaces that are convenient for families or friends traveling together.

Features

Seasonal rooftop pool and bar, excellent Mediterranean restaurant, and small spa

From May to October, the hotel's seasonal rooftop pool and terrace bar are big hits. The panoramic rooftop views over the city are big draws for both locals and guests alike, but sunbeds are few at the narrow infinity pool. Despacio Spa at The One is open year-round and features two treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, relaxation area with a heated plunge pool, and a small but decent 24-hour gym. Guests can use the facilities for free, aside from treatment cabins.

The casual Somni Restaurant gets excellent reviews for its Mediterranean cuisine and tapas, available for all three meals and order 24-hour room service. A cocktail and wine bar provide a classy but laid-back space for sipping mixologist-crafted cocktails and nibbling on tapas.

The hotel has two interior meeting rooms with natural light and various setup options, and the Mood Bar is available for outdoor events on a seasonal basis. Freebies include property-wide Wi-Fi, use of the spa facilities, and a dedicated luxury concierge service. Valet parking and laundry service are available for a fee.
