Bottom Line

Simple, sweet, and small, that's Hotel Pueblo in a nutshell. This charming two-and-a-half-pearl boutique houses just 10 rooms, making it an intimate spot that's frequented by couples. Families are common here, too, but given there are no full restaurant, pool, or entertainment facilities, there's little to occupy children. While a 10-minute drive from the beach, there are numerous restaurants and bars nearby, plus Benalmadena Golf is a four-minute drive. Rooms are on the small side, but comfy, each promising AC, a minibar, flat-screen TV, iPod dock, and furnished balcony -- though some are tiny. Some also have well-equipped kitchenettes. There's a lot to love about Hotel Pueblo, but travelers looking for a boutique with more on-site may prefer the pricier Hotel la Fonda, which has a spa, pool, and free breakfast.

Hotel Pueblo – Boutique Hotel

Scene

Colorful and contemporary boutique hotel

Hotel Pueblo's exterior definitely appears to have some Mediterranean influence with its whitewashed facade lined by bright-blue flower pots. Interior colors are more punchy and warm, as orange hues fill the spaces, alongside wrought-iron accents and more plants. The entire hotel was fully refurbished in 2013, giving way to its contemporary yet homey style. Public spaces are limited to the light-orange breakfast room, which has a gallery wall of antique photos, candelabra-like wall sconces, and a mishmash of leather seating. At just 10 guest rooms, this boutique hotel is small, and guests are likely to run into the friendly owners. It has an intimate, charming vibe that attracts mostly couples and adult friends who don't mind being away from the beach. Families with children frequent the hotel, too, but with little in the way of kid-friendly amenities, they're not as prevalent.

Location

Overlooking a plaza; walking distance to bars and restaurants

There is no beach within walking distance, though it's just a quick, 10-minute driveto Playa Las Viborillas. For those that don't need to be next to the beach, Hotel Pueblo's location is central, convenient, and still quiet. There are no sea-views, but many of the hotel's guests rooms overlook a quaint plaza filled with palm trees and a fountain. From the hotel, guests are within easy walking distance of numerous shops, restaurants, and bars. Due to the fact that Hotel Pueblo only serves breakfast, guests will appreciate having so many eateries nearby. Golf enthusiasts will also be pleased to find that Benalmadena Golf is just a four-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Small, but well-equipped and cozy guest rooms

After undergoing a refurbishment in 2013, the 10 guest rooms are now contemporary, bright (they're the same orange hue as the hotel's other spaces), and tech-friendly, too. They're outfitted with terra-cotta tiling, attractive white- and dark-wood furniture, white linens and orange blankets in some, and cute details such as small bedside hanging chandeliers, striped tapestries, and wood-framed mirrors. Despite being on the small side, they're comfortable and all have a desk and/or sitting area. Also standard are furnished balconies or terraces, though some are quite small and views vary.

Outstanding amenities include free Wi-Fi, iPod docking stations, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, safes, and air-conditioning; iPads are also available upon request. Five of the rooms have a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, toaster, and mini-fridge (in addition to a minibar). Bathrooms have an older but still attractive look with floor-to-ceiling teal and mustard-yellow tiles. All bathrooms have a half-glass enclosed shower/tub combo, a bidet, free Prija bath products, and a hairdryer.

Features

No pool or formal restaurant, but a well-reviewed breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi

Hotel Pueblo doesn't offer many on-site features, least of all for kids. There is free and reliable Wi-Fi throughout, and iPads are available upon request. There is no formal restaurant, but breakfast is offered in the lounge/breakfast room. The continental spread receives excellent reviews and includes fruit, yogurt, bread and pastries, spreads, juice, cheese, ham, cereals, scrambled or boiled eggs, and coffee or tea. Laundry service is available for a fee.
