Scene
Roadside budget hotel with limited common areas, including a patio and grassy lawn area.
Holiday Motel has many of the trappings of a typical roadside budget inn, from its bright signboard that juts out onto busy 3rd Avenue to its small check-in area at the end of the property's large surface lot. Common areas include a lovely grass-filled back garden and a patio with tables and chairs, but that's about it. Most guests are budget travelers looking for an affordable place to sleep while in town.
Location
On a busy thoroughfare dominated by strip malls, a short drive from the city center
This motel is located on SE 3rd Street, part of the larger main highway that runs through town. It's an unattractive road lined with strip malls; the mall across from the hotel has a Safeway, Starbucks, sub sandwich shop, and a hardware store. The much cuter and quainter Bend downtown area is an 18-minute walk or six-minute drive away. Sunriver Resort -- which offers bike trails, horseback riding, and a small shopping center -- is a 25-minute drive away. Mount Bachelor takes a half-hour to reach by car. Smith Rock, known for its ample rock climbing opportunities, takes about 40 minutes by car, depending on traffic. The Redmond Municipal Airport also takes about 25 minutes to reach by car. Portland and PDX Airport is just over three hours away.
Rooms
Loudly decorated rooms that sleep up to six guests; some with kitchenettes
Rooms at the Holiday Motel Bend are clean and well-maintained and range from Queen Rooms with one bed up to Family Suites and Two-Bedroom Suites for up to six guests. The former feature kitchens. In a typical motel fashion, decor is dated beyond belief, with patterned or striped bedspreads with golden accents and wood or laminate desks. Carpets could use a refresh. Amenities found across room types include microwaves, flat-screen TVs, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and blackout curtains, some higher room categories add mini-fridges. Bathrooms are simple and bright, with vessel sinks and shower/tub combos, and toiletries are provided. All rooms have air-conditioning, a real plus during Bend's hot summer days.
Features
Limited amenities include free hotel-wide Wi-Fi and free surface parking
This budget motel doesn't offer much in terms of amenities, though there is free property-wide Wi-Fi and free on-site parking. The front desk is open 24-hours. While there's no real meal or drinks service, there are soda vending machines available next to a small outdoor patio with tables and chairs for guests. Note that pets are not allowed.
