Bottom Line

The 59-room Sleep Inn in Bend, Oregon is a value chain hotel located a 13-minute drive from the center of town and parks along the Deschutes River. Rooms are contemporary and have good amenities for the price, including microwaves, coffeemakers, and mini-fridges. There’s little to do on-site, but the outdoor pool and hot tub are pleasant, and the free breakfast is convenient. Compare rates and amenities with the similarly priced Three Sisters Inn and Suites, which is closer to the center of town but has less stylish decor.

Scene

Chain hotel with a contemporary feel and some unexpected amenities in a residential area

Guests are greeted by a warm, inviting lobby with high ceilings that creates an open feel. The room is done in shades of brown, with a large nature mural on one wall and black accents adding a stylish touch. The tile floor feels utilitarian, but there’s a nice sitting area with comfy armchairs and a sofa, plus free coffee and water are on offer. The grounds are modest, but well-kept. A path around the building is surrounded by trim lawns and shrubbery, and is shaded under trees. A few benches offer a pretty spot to sit. Decent amenities, including an outdoor pool, for the affordable price makes this an attractive option for leisure travelers to Bend -- couples and families alike.

Rooms

Simple but contemporary decor, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers

Rooms are simple, but outfitted in contemporary decor with a welcoming feel. Warm, neutral colors are appealing and have classic black and white accents. Ivory walls are offset by dark-wood furniture -- a wardrobe and a work desk -- and black frames around several nature photographs decorate the walls. The two queen-size beds, or single king bed, have a brown coverlet and black-and-white runner with a leafy pattern. All rooms are nicely equipped with a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and iron, but there’s no safe. Bathrooms are tiny, with just a toilet and a shower with a glass door, and the vanity is outside the bathroom. A hairdryers is provided and free toiletries include soap, shampoo, lotion, and makeup remover wipes.
