The Oxford Hotel

The Oxford Hotel is a charming business-boutique hotel with a contemporary, imposing facade dominated by red brick and dark iron balconies. Inside, a modern gas fireplace and stack of firewood in front of white leather armchairs warm the space. The restaurant is hip and modern, with vintage-style furniture and a lime green color palette with mood lighting. Most guests here are business travelers, though the hotel does receive some tourists needing easy access to town.

The Oxford Hotel is situated right in downtown Bend, in an area with lots of little boutiques and restaurants. It's about a five-minute walk from the celebrated Deschutes Brewery pub. Sunriver Resort -- which offers bike trails, horseback riding, and a small shopping center -- is a 25-minute drive away. Mount Bachelor takes a half-hour to reach by car. It takes around 45 minutes to reach Smith Rock State Park, an iconic high-desert wilderness area known for its gigantic namesake rock formation and excellent rock climbing. The Redmond Municipal Airport takes just under a half-hour to reach by car. Portland is just over three hours away. 

The Oxford offers a good range of rooms and suites, all looking out over the city and many with Cascade Mountain views in the distance. Decor is sleek and contemporary, with chocolate hues in the furniture and headboards offset by lighter, earth-tone sofas and chairs, lamps with unfinished wood stands, and lightly patterned half-room divider screens. All rooms have organic pillow menus and eco-friendly comforters and bedding, plus flat-screen TVs, iPod alarm clocks, microwaves, mini-fridges, safes, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms are large, with walk-in rainfall showers and separate tubs. Big glass countertops are stocked with large bottles of natural toiletries. Note that pet-friendly rooms are available on request, in advance. 

The Oxford Hotel offers lots of great features, including a fitness center with cardio and weight-training equipment, an adjacent whirlpool hot tub, and a sauna for guest use, plus a free-to-use washer and dryer. There's also a free local-area shuttle, free loaner bicycles, and free loaner guitars. Dining options include room service from early morning until night, plus the on-site restaurant -- 10below -- which serves dishes using primarily organic and locally sourced ingredients for all three meals.The Oxford positions itself as an event venue, with a large ballroom for up to 175 guests reception-style as well as a handful of smaller venues for meetings and weddings. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. There are a couple of Tesla charging stations and those with hybrid or electric cars get free valet parking.
