Don Jorge Apartamentos

Don Jorge Apartamentos is housed in a fairly nondescript, tall stone building on a hill. Originally an apartment building, it was transformed into a hotel when the units didn’t sell. The property is owned by next-door neighbor, Palm Beach Hotel, and guests have full access to its facilities. Those with mobility issues should be prepared for a large number of steep steps to the front door of the building, and should also note that the property is located on a hill. There aren't many public areas here, though there is a plain lobby with a reception desk and a few vending machines. The apartments attract families seeking a sunny vacation and a home base from which to explore the city, though large groups of friends are also common visitors and can be noisy.

The property is located in one of the quieter sections of Benidorm without any bars, shopping centers, or restaurants nearby. Levante Beach is about a 15-minute uphill walk from the property; it can also be accessed by the hotel’s free shuttle that runs for most of the day on a timely schedule. Restaurants, bars, and shopping can be found in the central part of the city, which is a 20-minute walk away, though there are a few bars and dining options within a 10-minute walk. Aqualandia, a water park, and its family-friendly neighbor, Mundomar, take about 20 minutes to reach on foot, or they're a five-minute drive. It’s a 45-minute drive to Alicante Airport, or an hour-and-a-half to Valencia Airport. 

While these apartments won't win any design awards, the one- and two-bedroom units are spacious (especially compared to European norms) and clean. Decor is basic: blue sofa beds, white walls, modular blond-wood furniture, and small art pieces hanging above beds. Each unit features fully equipped kitchenettes with fridges, stoves, ovens, sinks, toasters, coffeemakers, and tea kettles. Other amenities include flat-screen TVs, and the apartments have dining areas as well as furnished terraces. Two-bedroom apartments have washers (dryers aren’t common in Spain). There is no Wi-Fi, however, and some complaints about bothersome noise from other rooms have been made. Bathrooms are simple, outfitted in beige tiles, and offer plenty of sink space, shower/tub combos, bidets, and toiletries, though no hairdryers. 

Don Jorge Apartamentos doesn't offer many on-site features, but guests have free access to the facilities of next-door Palm Beach Hotel. These include an indoor heated pool and an outdoor pool with a spacious deck and poolside bar.  There is an on-site outdoor pool, but it’s often shaded and therefore cold. Guests can also utilize the fitness center and sauna at the Palm Beach Hotel, while kid-friendly amenities include a game room (though it’s starting to show some wear and tear), an outdoor playground for young children, an outdoor soccer field (with a hard floor), and the COCO kids' club that’s open in the summer and provides arts and crafts for kids. There's a convenience store as well with many kids' toys and basic items.

Dining options at Palm Beach Hotel are decent. El Patio offers Mediterranean dishes, while Salon Hawaii has a low-key setting with light meals and drinks. The apartments can be booked with an all-inclusive rate. There’s also a late-night club located on-site. Parking is free. Wi-Fi is not available in the apartments, but is free in the lobby of the Palm Beach Hotel.
