Servigroup Nereo

The Nereo is one of nine Benidorm properties owned by Servigroup, a Spanish chain known for its good food, cleanliness, and simple but well-equipped rooms. The hotel underwent a partial renovation in the mid-2010s, and while interiors are simple and a tad dated throughout, a few areas have a fresher feel, including the restaurant, which has beige floors and contemporary white-plastic furniture with orange accents. The lobby has been updated with color LED lights, a stone accent wall, and some pops of purple, but the white and lapis-blue couches are a bit dated, as is the terrazzo tile-clad front desk. 

All of the Servigroup hotels in Benidorm have kiddy pools, but few offer additional amenities for children. The Nereo, however, offers a seasonal kids’ club, which makes it a little more popular with families than many of its sister properties. Still, the crowd during the off-peak season is older, with many senior couples and groups of friends.

The hotel is located on a wide avenue lined with shops and bars. Right across the street is the area’s popular indoor market, which occupies an entire block and is home to dozens of casual stores where guests can buy anything from cheap T-shirts to shoes and beach gear. There are a few fast food joints within a couple of blocks, and many more dining options about a five-minute walk away. Levante Beach, a long, popular stretch of sand, is just a five-minute walk from the hotel. Buses to Poniente -- the longest beach in Benidorm -- stop right outside the front door. This area is also known for its hopping nightlife, with dozens of lively bars and clubs catering mostly to international travelers. Those looking for something with a more local flair can check out the Old Town, located a 10-minute drive away. Servigroup Nereo is a 50-minute drive from Alicante Airport.

The hotel has 200 rooms, each with a spacious balcony furnished with plastic chairs and a table. All are decorated in a cheerful but simple purple-and-orange color scheme, and feature basic but well-maintained wooden furniture. Busy curtains in dark purple and orange flowers are a tad dated, though, and artwork in cheap gold frames don’t help either. Amenities, however, are great for a mid-range hotel, and include free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs with dozens of local and international channels. Rooms also feature safes, but they're only available for a fee. Superior Rooms are a little bit more contemporary, with an orange accent wall, wood floors, and modern art on walls. These units also feature a seating area with a double sofa bed. Bathrooms have been updated in all units, but style varies between standard and Superior Rooms. All have large walk-in showers with glass screens, but while Double Rooms feature loud fuchsia counters and shower tiles, Superior units have a softer beige palette and vessel sinks. 

This Servigroup property has the features expected of a mid-range resort, starting with its pool. The pool is medium-sized but big enough for laps, and gets lots of sun during the day. While there are plenty of loungers on the main deck, few umbrellas are provided, and they go fast in the morning. A small kiddy pool is separated from the adult pool by a metal railing, and the adjacent kids’ club offers daily activities for children during the peak season. Nightly entertainment for all ages is also available seasonally. The hotel’s main bar has outdoor seating on the pool deck, and serves drinks and small snacks throughout the day. Main meals are served at the buffet restaurant, which gets good reviews for its variety. Breakfast is included in all rates, and features a wide array of hot and cold items, as well as a gluten-free section. There is also a private parking lot on-site (available for a fee), and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
