Servigroup Torre Dorada

Located in a quiet residential area above Poniente Beach, the Torre Dorada is for those seeking a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of central Benidorm. It is housed in an older-looking 13-story tower with a spacious pool deck and direct access to the beach via several long stretches of stairs with a total of over 140 steps. The lobby is simple and a tad dated, with several clusters of red chairs, a couple of vending machines, and big banners with information about the Servigroup hotel chain. However, green walls lend it a somewhat fresher feel, and a large fountain in the center makes it a bit less generic. The cheerful wall color continues in other common spaces, including a cheerful central courtyard topped with a skylight and decorated with dozens of round lamps hanging from the glass ceiling. Other areas are more generic and dated, including the restaurant, which has basic blue tables and drop-ceilings for a corporate look. 

Most guests here are couples and families with kids looking to spend a few restful days in the sun, and the atmosphere is lively yet relaxing during the day, and quiet at night. 

This hotel is located atop a hill in a quiet residential area on the far western edge of Poniente Beach. While there isn’t much of interest in the area, there are a few restaurants and bars within the surrounding blocks, and a large supermarket less than a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is also about a 10-minute walk from Benidorm’s longest beach, but the street is on a slope, and some may find the walk back a little challenging. There is also direct access to the beach via several long sets of stairs. Two bus lines stop a couple of minutes from the hotel, making access to more central areas in Benidorm cheap and easy. There are also two major theme parks and a nine-hole golf club within a 10-minute drive of the hotel. The Old Town can be reached by car in about 10 minutes, and the party area of the New Town is just 15 minutes from the hotel. The nearest airport is in Alicante, located a 40-minute drive away. The hotel offers on-site parking for a fee. 

The highlight of guest rooms at the Torre Dorada is the attractive vista from balconies. All rooms have sliding doors opening onto spacious balconies furnished with two chairs and a table, and many offer stunning unobstructed views of the Mediterranean and the bay. The rest of the rooms offer panoramas of the mountain and city skyline. But compared with these views, rooms can be underwhelming with generic pale wooden furniture, light gray tile floors, and baby blue curtains. Floral-patterned bedspreads and artwork in thin golden frames lend rooms an old-fashioned, even dated, look. Room categories range from singles with queen beds to family units with four twin beds. Each unit is equipped with free Wi-Fi, an empty mini-fridge, and a flat-screen TV with many international channels. Central air-conditioning is available seasonally, and safes are provided for a fee. Bathrooms are clean and appealing, with large walk-in showers with raspberry-pink tiles and frosted glass screens, pink floors, wall-mounted hairdryers, and a few basic toiletries in small sachets.

Features at Servigroup Torre Dorada aim to add value and appeal to this mid-range, mid-size property. The hotel has a long concrete deck complete with a large pool, a few straw umbrellas, and plenty of loungers. There is a small shallow kiddy pool adjacent to the main pool, as well as a colorful playground right off the main deck, and a kids’ club with seasonal indoor and outdoor activities. The main bar is open year-round and offers poolside seating seasonally, while main meals are offered at the buffet restaurant. Food at the Torre Dorada gets good reviews, especially the varied breakfast spread, which is included in all rates and offers a gluten-free section.
