Bottom Line

A good pick for groups of students or big families, Citylight Hotel is a value property with 90 rooms, some accommodating up to six guests. There’s a colorful restaurant on-site serving a breakfast buffet included in some room rates, and three-course dinner buffets can be arranged for groups. The hotel is in a convenient location near the subway and only three stops from the main tourist attractions, but the rooms are simple with small showers and the teenage guests may be a bit noisy for anyone hoping for a quiet vacation. For entertainment there is a game room and a disco, and Wi-Fi and parking are both free. Guests looking for more modern accommodations may want to check out Mondrian Suites Hotel Berlin, a three-pearl hotel near Checkpoint Charlie with clean, apartment-like rooms.

Citylight Hotel

Scene

Value hotel popular with student and youth groups

The outside of the Citylight Hotel isn’t particularly eye-catching, but inside there are a handful of vibrant common areas for the youth groups that stay at the hotel to socialize in including a funky basement-style disco with blue walls, leather couches, and party lights. The restaurant is more like a colorful dining hall with big windows, bright yellow and orange walls, and live plants and bamboo centerpieces. For the kids, there’s even a small play area with a colorful table and chairs. For the adults, there’s a bar surrounded by windows, and a charming patio with stone tables and benches offers a spot to enjoy a drink outdoors. The atmosphere is relaxed and can be a bit noisy from the teen groups.
