Bottom Line

The 256-room Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington is an upscale chain hotel popular with business travelers located in an office park about 15 minutes from the Minneapolis airport. Rooms are large, comfortable, and clean, though they could stand an update. There is a small indoor pool and hot tub, a medium-size 24-hour fitness center, and a wide variety of meeting spaces, plus free shuttle service to the nearby Mall of America and the airport. Two restaurants, including a steakhouse with an inviting bar, are located on-site (though can be pricey). Common complaints include a pesky daily fee for Internet, slow room service, and crowded parking.

Hilton Minneapolis Bloomington

Scene

Upscale chain hotel that attracts many business travelers

The 11-story Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington consists of a single block-like structure set in a suburban parking lot. The hotel is considerably nicer on the inside than its exterior would suggest. A floating staircase and graphic rugs give the ample, tile-floor lobby a not-unpleasant corporate aesthetic; it abounds with places to sit in the form of low-lying leather benches and engineered wood chairs. The space, which was renovated in 2015, enjoys lots of light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Conference and ballrooms, also renovated, have recessed lighting and large sculptural contemporary chandeliers.

Rooms

Large, sunny, comfortable rooms

Sage-green striped carpeting, leather and wood panel headboards, and teak-colored laminate wood furniture lend an elegant, if mildly dated, feel to these comfortable, spacious rooms. A few guests have noted wear and tear on the carpeting. Larger suites have a separate living and sleeping area, the former with a couch and easy chair in front of an additional TV. Many larger suites have a walk-in shower only, whereas smaller ones have a shower/tub combo. All rooms have flat-screen TVs with cable, work desks with rolling ergonomic chairs, safes, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, iron and ironing boards, and hairdryers.

This hotel has a number of features to appeal to both leisure and business travelers. A bank of a few computers near the lobby serves as a business center; the renovated executive lounge is another popular, comfortable place to work. There is a small pool with an adjacent hot tub and a 24-hour fitness center with a handful of treadmills, a couple of ellipticals, free weights, and a few weight machines. The hotel has two restaurants, one a more formal steakhouse, the other offering casual dining. The hotel has a range of types of meeting spaces, from rooms centered around conference tables to large ballrooms that can be configured for celebrations.
