Bottom Line

The 129-room Ramada Resort Bodrum is a luxury hotel with a quiet atmosphere and a strong Mediterranean feel. Located on a hillside in Bitez, it capitalizes on its lovely surroundings, with serene outdoors that include a large pool with panoramic views, and several dining options with spacious decks. Along with tennis and squash courts, the hotel offers a fully equipped fitness center with spin and Pilates studios, and a wonderful spa complete with an indoor pool, massages, and a sauna. Although somewhat generic in style, rooms are clean and light, with large windows -- in most offering panoramic valley and sea views -- and great amenities such as free Wi-Fi, LCD TVs, coffeemakers, and minibars. The hotel offers free shuttle service to a private beach club, but the location a 10-minute drive from the city center may not be convenient to some. In this price range, the Grand Yazici Bodrum is a comparable option; its rooms are a touch more stylish and have balconies, but lack coffeemakers.

Ramada Resort by Wyndham Bodrum

Scene

Luxury hotel with panoramic views and soothing contemporary interiors

Tucked away in the hills west of Bodrum City, this 129-room property has a tranquil atmosphere that caters mostly to couples on a romantic getaway. It is part of the huge Wyndham hotel group, but its distinct Mediterranean architecture feels a world away from its business-oriented sister properties. Low whitewashed buildings with wooden accents blend well with the rural surroundings, and large decks shaded by wooden beams and white and plum umbrellas offer plenty of space for relaxation. Interiors have a similar soothing feel, with simple contemporary decor and big windows that offer expansive views of the Bitez Valley and the sea beyond. The lobby is somewhat generic but appealing, with parquet floors, a soft neutral palette, and a few darker accents. Concrete-gray pillars and wooden tables with clean lines give the space a slight industrial style, while live plants and a few ornamental vases are a homey touch.

The property was designed to make the most of the views and the high level of privacy its stepped layout allows. The main building, housing all standard rooms and a few suites, is located at the top of the hill, while the rest of the suites are spread out over a vast area in smaller buildings. Connecting Suites and Villas are located at the bottom of the property, but are offered golf cart shuttle service to common areas.

Ramada Resort Bodrum is located in a residential area on the hills of Bitez, a quiet seaside community known for its sandy beach. There isn’t much in the immediate area, but a five-minute drive gets guests to the beachfront area, which offers a few restaurants and bars. The hotel also offers free shuttle service to a private beach club with loungers and a restaurant. A 10-minute drive from the hotel is the center of Bodrum, which offers a wider array of dining and drinking options, and a dozens of shops. Bodrum City is also home to several major tourist sights, including the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Bodrum Antique Theater, and St Peter’s Castle, all within a 15-minute drive of the hotel. The airport is a 30-minute drive away.

Rooms

Light, well-equipped rooms with contemporary decor and floor-to-ceiling windows

The hotel has 129 rooms, all with floor-to-ceiling windows offering mountain and/or sea views. A few have furnished balconies, but Standard Rooms and Junior Suites only feature low railings attached to the window. Blond wood furniture, clean lines, and a black, white and gray color palette combine to create simple and somewhat generic spaces. While not quite sophisticated, rooms have an inviting feel to them, with black and gray bed runners over crisp white linens, wood wall paneling, and warm lights. The list of standard amenities includes free Wi-Fi, LCD TVs, coffeemakers, minibars, electronic safes, and air-conditioning. Bathrooms are clean but a tad small and basic in Standard Rooms, with large walk-in showers, hotel-brand toiletries, and average hairdryers.

Connecting Suites  have larger bathrooms with more contemporary gray-and-white tiles, a few wood accents, and double sinks. They also offer a basic kitchenette, a spacious terrace with a table and two chairs, and access to a pool shared with other suites. Stand-alone Villas are the most upscale of all rooms at the Ramada Resort Bodrum, with private pools, jetted tubs, washer/dryers, and larger kitchens complete with dishwashers, cooktops, sinks, and mini-fridges. They’re farther from most common spaces than the rest of the rooms and suites, but offer a higher level of privacy, and have butler service and -- along with the Connecting Suites -- private transportation to on-site restaurants, the spa, and the common pool.

Features

Pool, varied dining options, shuttle to beach club, spa, fitness center, and meeting rooms

The pool has a quiet vibe to match the serene panoramic bay and valley views that can be had from the many loungers around it. There are a few large umbrellas, and a few steps lead to the Claypots Restaurant’s terrace, where guests can order drinks and have buffet meals. Other on-site dining options include a fusion restaurant with Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, a sushi joint that gets great reviews, and an open-air pizza joint with live music and expansive views.

While not directly on the beach, the hotel does have a stretch of sand with a private pier a two-minute free shuttle ride away, complete with padded loungers, umbrellas, towel service, and a restaurant. The spa features several massage rooms, a large hammam, a sauna, a salon, a juice bar with comfy seating, and an outdoor deck. The hydrotherapy area includes a whirlpool and an indoor pool big enough for laps. The fitness center offers a wide array of cardio and strength-training machines, and there is a spacious Pilates studio and a room for group spin classes. Personal trainers, and squash and tennis courts are also available on-site. The hotel also features six meeting rooms with audiovisual equipment, including an outdoor events space.
