Chandler Studios

With no real public spaces other than a small entryway, guests have little interaction at this hotel that opened in late 2012. The apartment-style studios tend to attract extended-stay business travelers and tourists who enjoy the space and relative peace and quiet. Since guests check in at sister property Chandler Inn that's right across the street (and where a daily continental breakfast is served), most interaction occurs there. It has a cramped lobby with gray carpet, low ceilings, and a wall of black mosaic tiles behind the front desk. A burnt orange leather sofa on an orange and tan rug sits under a window, while two brown leather chairs offer seating. Like the lobby, the Chandler Inn's Trophy Room is a rather dark space, with dark wood floors, black leather banquette seating, a wood bar, and the same white brick-patterned tile walls. It hosts a lively crowd on most nights and serves a weekend brunch. 

Chandler Studios is located in Boston’s South End on quiet and mostly residential Berkeley Street, within walking distance of two T subway stations, downtown Boston, and several popular attractions. Guests must check in at the sister property, the Chandler Inn, which is across the street. Chandler Inn has a popular restaurant, plus several other restaurants are within a short walk of the hotel. A convenience store is directly across the street.

Guest rooms are decorated in a sleek, bright, and modern style that utilizes mostly white and gray tones with bright red accents. Large black-and-white photo murals of historic Boston subway platforms adorn the walls above the large beds topped with crisp, white linens and red accent pillows. The white walls complement beautiful hardwood floors that are partially covered by gray and red rugs. Dressers and nightstands are framed in natural wood with gray laminate facades, as are the cabinets in the kitchenettes, which include stovetop burners, microwaves, sinks, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, dishes, and utensils. Two simple stainless steel frame chairs and a small white laminate oval table make up the seating arrangement in each room. 

The rooms are spacious and clean and come in King, Queen, and Double-Double bed options. Executive Kings and a One Bedroom Suite include sleeper sofas. Bathrooms are sleek and modern, with attractive gray tiling, white ceramic-top vanities, and large walk-in showers. Standard amenities include laptop safes, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, free Wi-Fi, and daily housekeeping. Windows overlook the rooftops and backyards of the lovely adjacent residential buildings. 

This apartment-style studio hotel offers few on-site features, but guests have access to amenities at its sister property, the Chandler Inn, located across the street. The Inn’s Trophy Room restaurant and bar is a popular neighborhood watering hole that focuses on sandwiches and salads. It offers a free continental breakfast on weekdays, and coffee and water are available in the lobby all day. Concierge services and an ATM are available here as well. There are a few street parking spots on-site that are made available to guests for a fee, but the rest of the parking is located in a garage that’s about a five-minute walk away. Free Wi-Fi is available, but many guests report it to be spotty. And pets are not allowed.
