Bottom Line

Casa da Pedra is an ideal mid-range option for those seeking oceanfront isolation in Arraial do Cabo. he hotel is located inside the Pontal do Atalaia, a seven-minute drive from the popular Prainhas do Pontal. This unique property is a group of nine apartments with full kitchens and ocean views just out the door. They also have air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV with paid channels, and a barbecue outside. Along with ocean access, there's a swimming pool and free parking. A simple breakfast is provided, but there's no full restaurant. One great perk: boat tours are easy to arrange, since the boats stop at the pier of the pousada. As an alternative, Pousada da Prainha has more updated rooms, room service, and a hot breakfast buffet.

Casa da Pedra

Scene

Ocean view apartments on the hills of Pontal do Atalaia

The biggest selling point of Casa da Pedra is its isolated location near the popular beaches of Prainhas do Pontal (the Small Beaches). Since there are only nine apartments, the vibe is quiet and communal. Most guests are Brazilian families, couples, and groups of friends. Decor is beach rustic with interesting accents like hanging fish art, rock walls, and orange shingle roofs. It's all about the ocean views and being outside:  the common area has a small ocean-front pool, a steam sauna, and a pier for those who want to take a bout tour.

Location

Southeast of Arraial, inside the Pontal do Atalaia

The best feature of Casa da Pedra is the location. It’s built in the hills of Pontal do Atalaia, a seven-minute drive from Prainhas do Pontal (the Small Beaches). The Mirante do Pontal is about a 10-minute drive, while the entrance of Pontal do Atalaia, where markets, bars and drugstores can be found, is a 15-minute drive away. Praia Grande, a famous surf point of Arraial, is about a 20-minutes drive. Praia dos Anjos, where boats start their well-known tours, is about 20 minutes by car, and guests can catch the boat at the pousada's pier. Praia do Forno is about a 20-minute drive and then a 15-minute trek. Ilha do Frances and Ilha dos Porcos are only reachable by boat, usually on a day trip for those who want to practice scuba diving. The bus station, at the city center, is about a 15-minute drive. Cabo Frio International Airport is about 25 minutes away by car.

Features

Ocean access, small pool, and a continental breakfast spread

Casa da Pedra offers few features, and the location is the highlight, since Pontal do Atalaia is one of the most popular points of the city. There's a small ocean-facing pool, and guests can also use the steam sauna or just relax at the deck, watching the ocean. Boat tours depart from the hotel's dock. Apart from a simple continental breakfast spread, meals aren't served here. Most guests cook in their apartment kitchens. Wi-Fi and parking are both free.
