Keystone Lodge & Spa

Scene

Modern ski lodge with beautiful lake views

This modern ski lodge sits between the highway and Lake Keystone, sharing beautiful mountain views with surrounding properties. A rooftop terrace and ground-floor dining patios with fire pits overlook the mountain backdrop and lake, where ducks, boaters, and kayakers paddle through the water. Pine shutters at the lodge's entrance create a homey first impression. Clusters of contemporary furniture provide plenty of seating in the lobby, which offers gorgeous views from its floor-to-ceiling windows; large hallway windows also offer great forest views. This property’s competitive prices and close proximity to the Keystone Mountain ski lifts draw lots of families and couples, but the large meeting rooms and underground tunnel -- painted with a forest mural -- that leads under Highway 6 to the Keystone Resort Conference Center brings in plenty of conference-goers too.

Location

Located off Highway 6, overlooking Keystone Lake and Mountain

Overlooking Keystone Lake and Mountain, the hotel offers a serene setting surrounded by national forests. For business travelers, there’s a tunnel under Highway 6 that connects to Keystone Conference Center. A free shuttle takes guests to the gondola at Keystone Mountain, which in the summer offers tubing, hiking, and mountain biking. The location is also close to Interstate 70, making it easy to reach nearby towns. Dercum Square, which has ice skating, is about a five-minute drive away, and it’s a 10-minute drive to the Keystone Ranch Golf Course. Breckenridge Ski Resort and Copper Mountain are a 25-minute drive from the hotel. Breckenridge Distillery and popular Main Street -- lined with galleries, shops, and restaurants -- are 20 minutes away by car. Eagle County Regional Airport is about a 75-minute drive from the hotel, and Denver International is at least a two-hour drive.

Rooms

Lodge-style rooms with balconies and beautiful views, and two-level Loft Suites

The 152 rooms, which include 14 Loft Suites, at the Keystone Lodge & Spa are lodge-style, with pine furniture, carpeting, club chairs, gray-plaid drapes, and beautiful views of the mountains and Snake River from furnished balconies or patios. There are neutral tones throughout, including plenty of brown and gray hues with a few pops of red. Decor also includes classy touches, like ostrich leather lamps by the beds and plaid throw pillows on the duvet-covered beds. Art consists of framed landscapes that are appropriate for the hotel's mountain setting. That being said, plenty of the furniture we saw looked banged up or worn out and could use upgrading. Rooms are not air-conditioned, and although fans are provided, rooms still get stuffy even when patio doors are left open. The Loft Suites have lofted bedrooms above, and living rooms with sofa beds on the lower level. All rooms come with desks, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and wardrobes with humidifiers, irons, and safes. Basic beige-tile bathrooms have shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. Some rooms allow pets for a fee. Traffic noise can be an issue in rooms that are closer to the highway.
