Marriott’s Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge

Marriott’s Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge is housed in a large lodge-style building with sloping roofs. Between the buildings are various footpaths that lead to a bridge that crosses Maggie Pond. Interiors are cozy, with a stone-floored lobby that has a wooden ceiling and crimson-colored accents like area rugs and patterned armchairs providing seating in front of large windows that illuminate the space with sunlight. A birch tree branch arrangement acts as an attractive partition between the lobby and a small business center, while a vintage-style popcorn machine and a table with pitchers of refreshments are a welcoming touch, though guests have noted that messes near the machine remain throughout the day. Mountain scene paintings are found throughout the hotel, and colorful carpets festooned with tree or flower designs are placed in the hallways and near the elevator. The property mainly attracts couples, though families are common guests too and utilize the game room or lounge areas. 

The hotel sits next to Maggie Pond, where travelers can participate in fun lake activities like kayaking and bubble balls. Main Street in downtown Breckenridge has dining and entertainment options and is less than a 10-minute walk away. The nearest ski lift is the Quicksilver Super 6 lift at only a few minutes’ walk, though other lifts take about a five- to 10-minute drive to reach. Family fun can be had an eight-minute drive away at the Breckenridge Ski Resort, which has the Gold Runner Alpine Coaster and the TenMile Flyer Zipline. Breckenridge Golf Club is a 13-minute drive away.

Rooms feature pleasant, contemporary decor with a neutral color palette that includes light gray carpets, cream-hued walls, and wooden furniture accented by orange couches and striped armchairs as well as artwork depicting forest scenes and trees. Some items in the rooms appear dated, however, like the burnt orange bed skirts and granite countertops. All rooms have full kitchens with microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers, ovens, dishwashers, cutlery, plates, and pots. Other amenities include flat-screen TVs, and some rooms have balconies (some with mountain views), though there's no air-conditioning (fans and humidifiers are provided). Full housekeeping services are usually provided during mid-stay, though the option of daily services is available. Villas offer more space than Studios and have separate living rooms with couches. Bathrooms are decent in size and offer plenty of storage space thanks to large granite-topped vanities and several drawers. They include shower/tub combos and hairdryers.

The hotel has a large outdoor heated lap pool that can be accessed from inside the hotel. The pool patio has four hot tubs, lounge chairs, a grill, and tables with umbrellas and chairs. There’s a large 24-hour fitness center with a number of cardio machines with TVs, weight machines, and free weights. The hotel offers a variety of common areas such as an outdoor patio area with plush couches around fire pits as well as a lounge with a pool table, a small library, and board games, plus there's a sundeck with multiple grills, tables with chairs, and a life-size chess game. The game room is a family-friendly feature as it includes a life-size Jenga game, Ping-Pong, foosball, a high-tech DJ music system, and video games. The resort offers on-site ski, snowboard, and bicycle rentals as well as free ski storage for guests. Business travelers can make use of a business center with two computers and a printer in the lobby, plus Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Guests can also utilize a coin-operated laundry room. Free parking is available, but it only allows one car per room, and guests have made complaints about narrow spaces and difficulty parking larger vehicles like SUVs.
