Hotel de Goezeput

Hotel de Goezeput is a small, mid-range property housed in a restored 18th-century monastery building, which retains much of its historical charm and architectural features including a carved wooden staircase and wood beams in the rooms and hallways. Guests enter the hotel to a lobby with an antique wall map, brown leather sofa, tourist brochures, and dark-wood trim, paneling, and furnishings. The stylish modern lobby lounge has big black-and-white fashion and music photos on the wall, blond-wood tables, a fireplace, and bookshelves with art, travel, and music books and magazines. Guests gather here and in the pretty little courtyard terrace with landscaping and covered tables and chairs. Breakfast can be taken here in the summer months. The atmosphere at the hotel is warm and friendly. The hotel tends to draw tourists, who appreciate the hotel's quaintness and charm, and central location near the main Bruges attractions. The multilingual staff is helpful and knowledgeable.

Hotel de Goezeput is on a pretty cobbled street in a mainly residential area of central Bruges, with some shops a short walk away. The area is quiet and doesn't get much traffic. The location is good for tourists, as it's a short walk to major attractions, shopping, dining, and bars. It's also accessible by car, being less than a minute drive east of the R30 ring road. The Het Zand bus station is a two-minute walk west and Bruges train station is a four-minute drive or 10-minute walk south. St. Salvator's Cathedral is a minute walk north. Market Square and the Belfort medieval tower are a seven-minute walk northeast. Located a five-minute walk east, the Groeninge Museum features 15-century Flemish paintings from the likes of Jan Van Eyck. Right near the Groeninge are the Church of Our Lady and Gruuthuse Museum of applied arts. The Diamond Museum is a four-minute walk southeast and the Basilica of the Holy Blood is a nine-minute walk northeast of the hotel. A 10-minute walk south brings guests to the area with the De Halve Maan Brewery, Beguinage Convent, and Minnewater Lake. Ostend-Bruges International Airport is a 30-minute drive west of the Hotel de Goezeput. 

The Hotel de Goezeput has 15 non-smoking rooms in a two-floor historic building. The hotel has no elevator, but the staircase is wide enough to enable carrying luggage. Rooms are available in Single, Small Double, Standard Double, Standard Twin, Superior, Deluxe, Triple, and Family categories. They have a modern and minimalist feel, but retain some of the historic architectural elements of the building including wood ceiling beams. Some rooms are attic style with slanted ceilings and skylight-style windows. Each is clean, gets good natural light, and are largely quiet apart from some occasional and minor noise from the street or creaking stairs. Rooms have a muted but warm color palette with white cotton bedding, beige walls, dark-wood furniture, and hardwood floors. Some rooms feature decorative elements like houndstooth-style print throw pillows, sailing ship models, and color documentary photos on the wall. 

Some rooms feature views of the historic city center and neighboring buildings with their distinctive red clay tile roofs. All come with in-room safes, free Wi-Fi, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. Channel selection is limited, and some rooms have their TVs mounted on the wall at an angle awkward for viewing from the bed. Some have a combination of tables and chairs, luggage racks, full-length mirrors, wardrobes, and books for reading. Some rooms do not have closets, just hangers on hooks. Rooms do not have coffee/tea makers or air-conditioning. The Singles are small and some double beds are two single beds pushed together. Bathrooms are sleek, modern, and well lit, with gray and white tile along with hairdryers, though counter space can be limited. 

The hotel serves an ample continental breakfast buffet (for a fee) with hard-boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, pastries, breads from a nearby bakery, hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juice. In the summer months breakfast can be taken on the small but lovely courtyard terrace with picnic tables and umbrellas. The modern lounge bar serves a good selection of beer, wine, liquor, and cocktails in a stylish environment complete with large scale fashion and music photographs and contemporary furniture. A public computer, safes, and tourist info are all available on-site. The front desk is closed overnight, so guests need to notify the hotel in advance if they'll be checking in late, and then use a punch code to enter the hotel after hours. Secured parking (for a fee) is available at the train station, a 10-minute walk south. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
