The 22-room Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux is a grand boutique, designed with historical restoration in mind. The city center location allows guests to walk to restaurants, shops, and attractions while the soundproofing keeps the atmosphere intimate and quiet. Common areas and rooms are beautifully decorated in antique fabrics with plush armchairs. Special extras such as fresh fruit, champagne, and iPads set the rooms apart from competition and make guests feel welcome. The on-site restaurant and bar receive excellent reviews and the wellness center with sauna and steam bath is a standout feature. A wonderful rooftop terrace offers views of the city and there’s free Wi-Fi, though parking has a daily fee.

Hotel Heritage – Relais & Chateaux

Scene

An elegant, historical yet modern boutique

Built in 1390, the Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux is filled with original features and charm in addition to modern accents. Traditional floral wallpaper, chandeliers, and plush, antique armchairs decorate the lobby, restaurant, and bar, and every effort has been made to restore rather than renovate. Rich, patterned drapes hang from all the windows giving the hotel a cozy feel while the herringbone pattern wood floors and detailed carpets add to the contemporary historical design. A beautiful rooftop sun deck with table and chairs overlooks the historic surroundings. The hotel takes advantage of its history and provides luxurious comfort and style in every detail.

Location

In the center of Bruges, within walking distance to attractions, shops, and restaurants

On a quiet street in downtown Bruges, away from the tourist traffic, is the Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux. The Bruges City Theater, Historium, Grote Markt, Basilica of the Holy Blood, and Groeningemuseum are all under a 10-minute walk from the hotel as are numerous shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Public transportation can get you anywhere you want to go, including the Ostend-Bruges International Airport, and renting a car is only necessary if you plan on traveling outside the city center. Additionally, due to the slow and abundant traffic, it can be hard and time-consuming to navigate out of Bruges in a car.

Rooms

Opulent and antique rooms with modern, posh comforts

Rooms at the Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux are exceptionally clean and include original beams (this may cause an issue for head room depending on height) and attractive antique, soft furniture; even the beams are dust-free. Red velvets, blue fabric, modern floral wallpaper, luxurious curtains, and chandeliers decorate the rooms making them elegant and sophisticated. The detailed carpeting is beautiful and guests receive a fresh bowl of fruit and traditional cut glass sweet jar upon arrival; suite guests also receive strawberries and a bottle of champagne. Large, thin flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and minibars fill every room in addition to a special feature: an iPad. Big bathrooms also add high-end style with large gray tiles, rainfall showerheads in the walk-in showers, and separate tubs. Gold frame mirrors accent black countertops and brand amenities are included; robes and heated towel racks up the richness as well. These are some of the nicest rooms in Bruges; many guests prefer these even to the ostensibly more luxurious rooms at Hotel Duke's Palace, which lack the attention to detail shown here.

Attractive wellness center plus excellent on-site restaurant and bar

The fitness center is located in a historic section of the building -- it has one small window and a few machines plus a water cooler and bright lights. The wellness center stands out with a lovely sauna and steam bath. Comfortable seating and lots of soft towels decorate the areas and the tile and wood are beautiful. There is free Wi-Fi, a business center, and 24-hour room and concierge services in addition to on-site parking, but parking has a daily fee. The on-site restaurant, Le Mystique, serves modern, local cuisine in an elegant setting. It receives excellent reviews as does the bar, Le Magnum, which offers coffee and afternoon tea in addition to local beers and wines.
