Pantone Hotel

Pantone Hotel is themed after the Pantone color matching system, and bright colors are everywhere: Each hallway has a different shade, each room has a prevailing color accent, and the common spaces are a riot of color, with just about every shade of the rainbow present. The modern lobby, lounge, and breakfast area have bright shades appearing in everything from crimson-hued seating blocks to a “Color of the Year” board at reception. The rest of the property has more of a Brutalist architectural style. This is owed to a combination of the lighting that's tinted to match the different colors of the individual levels, and the slightly harsh feeling of poured concrete floors -- including a spiral staircase -- which come off as dorm-like.

Pantone Hotel is situated on the corner of a quiet residential street, overlooking a small courtyard-style park. The street doesn’t receive much traffic and is very quiet, with a traditional Belgian suburban feel. There are a few local cafes and shops a few minutes away, and it’s a 10- to 15-minute walk to a main shopping area with big restaurants and more touristy cafes. The center of old Brussels is about a half-hour walk away to the northeast. A bike-share station is directly outside the hotel, and several tram stops are within a four-block radius. Brussels Airport is about a 30-minute drive northeast.

The venue’s modern “clinical” look works better in guest rooms and bathrooms than it does in some of the common areas. Units have clean lines in wall-mounted, mural-size photos over the beds, splashes of color in the form of actual Pantone printouts, and retro brushed chrome fixtures and lamps. While rooms do have a basic feel with only small amounts of furniture and an open shelving system, they are contemporary and clean. All rooms also have shag carpeting, hairdryers, air-conditioning (which may be on the weak side for some tastes), flat-screen TVs, safes, strong reading lights, and shower/tub combos. There has been the occasional complaint about lack of soundproofing. 

Amenities at Pantone Hotel are on the limited side. The lobby breakfast room is outfitted in a spectrum of colors; a cosmic mod-style theme dominates with white seating accented by ovals of color on tables. Many have noted the breakfast is on the pricey side, though those who have sampled the buffet claim it to be of decent quality and variety. There’s also an on-site lounge with, again, brightly-colored seating, as well as windows out onto the street and a selection of loaner books to peruse. Free and reliable Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
