Grand Hotel Budapest is an upscale boutique with 50 rooms located in the center of the Pest side of Budapest. The exterior is a late 19th-century building, but inside the hotel has lush and modern design elements like seashell-inspired cream furniture and brick walls. Fluorescent neon tube lighting frames interior windows that lead up to a skylight. Rooms are polished and include Lavazza coffeemakers and white canopy beds with white tufted headboards. Lipstick-red and black furniture with curlicue designs adds a stylish touch. Other features at the hotel include a colorful hot tub, Spanish restaurant, and a tiny fitness center. 

With Asian-inspired glamour and a bold red color palette, the Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest offers an unexpectedly dramatic design scheme. Other fun surprises at this over-the-top boutique hotel inside a flatiron building on the famous shopping street of Vaci Utca include a trendy spa with heated stone beds, a 40-foot-tall Buddha statue inside the restaurant, and two late-night bars. Chinese dragon motifs in the rooms continue the Asian theme while luxurious extras include electronic toilets, soaking bathtubs, and Nespresso machines. It's a bit large for a boutique hotel with 102 rooms, but it's been attracting couples and business people since it opened in 2012.

Hotel Parlament is a truly trendy and upscale boutique hotel in Leopold Town, the business hub of central Pest. Interiors include bold colors, high ceilings, and massive light fixtures hanging from an atrium. Design conscious guest rooms have hardwood floors and arched windows, plus a modern lipstick-red chair next to the bed. Free breakfast and a wellness center with a hot tub, sauna, and fresh fruit are nice extras. Guests gather at Sky Bar for cocktails and beer. 

Refined and trendy at the same time, the modern Estilo Fashion Hotel features custom-made furniture, bold colors, and modern amenities throughout its common areas and rooms. Rooms have a nautical decor scheme and come with pillow and bedding menus and in-room massages can be arranged on request. It's located on Vaci utca, Budapest's popular pedestrian street, near plenty of shops and restaurants. The hotel's on-site dining spot, Mercatino Restaurant & Bar, is open throughout the day and serves a free buffet breakfast every morning. 

Boutique Hotel Budapest is a simple and sweet property on the southern edge of Pest's Inner City, three blocks from the Danube River. There are some luxe extras for the price tag including 24-hour room service, a bistro restaurant, and underground parking. A stylish lobby bar has white sofas and a glass atrium, along with original paintings on the walls.  Breakfast is included with the room price. Contemporary, but small, rooms include small flat-screen TVs and some have views of the river. 

St. George Residence in the Buda Castle was originally built in the late Baroque style in the 14th century. Today, the 26-room boutique hotel has a cheery setting with well-lit hallways and a manicured interior courtyard. Suits of armor give the space a museum vibe. Rooms and public spaces are decorated with chandeliers, oil paintings, and inlay furniture. Kitchens and dining spaces make the hotel appealing for those who want to self-cater and the hotel is about a seven-minute walk from most of the tourist destinations including Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion. 

The 80-room La Prima Fashion Hotel Budapest is a member of the Fashion Hotels brand, which also includes the Buda Castle Fashion Hotel. We like this upper-middle-range option for its cute sea foam and cream color palette, vintage-style furniture, and small gym. There's an on-site restaurant, but the real draw here is the ultra convenient location one block from the Danube Promenade and nearby the famous shopping street of Vaci Utca. 

There are just 25 stylish rooms at Buda Castle Fashion Hotel. This is an excellent pick for those that want a terrific location in the heart of Castle Hill near the Buda Castle. Features include a pretty garden courtyard, free breakfast, and an interesting history as a safe house for refugees fleeing the Turkish occupation of Hungary. The hotel and rooms are decorated with patterned carpeting, cushioned chairs, and a soft color palette.
