Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Broadway Hotel & Suites sits on Avenida Corrientes, a major thoroughfare in the heart of Buenos Aires' cultural district, right down the street from the iconic Obelisk. It's close to theaters, shopping, entertainment, and the financial district. Interiors are modern and posh yet minimalist. Hotel highlights include a rooftop pool with a roomy sundeck, a small fitness center, a restaurant, and a breakfast buffet included in the rates. The 110 guest rooms are spacious and include Junior and Executive Suites; they're not as elegant as public spaces and have a few dated details, though some have marble bathrooms. Travelers could also consider the nearby Galerias Hotel, which has similar amenities plus the added perk of a hot tub.

Scene

Hotel with posh public spaces and a clientele of mostly couples and families on vacation

Popular with tourists, Broadway Hotel & Suites opened in 2007 in the midst of the lively theater scene on Avenida Corrientes. The lobby has an elegant minimalist vibe with glossy white floors, chic black and purple velour chairs in a seating area next to large floor-to-ceiling windows. Large decorative elements like a taller-than-life mirror and black-and-white photographs from the early 20th century add decorative oomph. Fresh flowers in the lobby and doorman service also give an air of grandeur. In the restaurant, named Broadway Marilyn Monroe, dark wooden tables and chairs are offset by white marble floors. Black-and-white photographs of the iconic actress and other stars of the mid-20th century grace the walls, adding an old Hollywood vibe to the scene. The rooftop pool offers impressive city views, a wooden deck, red-clay-colored pool lining, and potted plants surrounding the edges.

Location

Within walking distance to attractions, restaurants, and public transportation

Broadway Hotel & Suites is located on the busy, noisy Avenida Corrientes, a major thoroughfare. The area is filled with restaurants and shops and is a three-minute walk from the iconic Obelisk. It’s a five-minute walk to Teatro Colon and a 16-minute walk to Plaza de Mayo. Recoleta Cemetery is about a half-hour walk from the hotel, and is more easily reached by bus or metro (stops are a three-minute walk from the hotel). Ezeiza International Airport is a 40-minute drive away.

Rooms

Modern rooms with flat-screen TVs and minibars -- but some wear showing through

Broadway Hotel & Suites 110 rooms are tastefully decorated, but they lack the elegance of the public spaces. Rooms were last renovated in 2011, and they feel it: textiles look tired, and furnishings show some small signs of wear and tear. Decor varies, but the color scheme is generally neutral, with yellow, orange, or red accents. Wood floors, white walls, and glass and metal furniture aims for a sleek, modern look. All rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, safes, and minibars. A few have CD players (another dated detail). Some Suites have kitchenettes with sinks and microwaves, plus living rooms with futons. All rooms lack coffeemakers. Bathroom styles vary -- some have white tiles and others have marble white tiles. They include showers or shower/tub combos and bidets, and hairdryers; toiletries are provided. The hotel is on a heavily trafficked street, but rooms are soundproofed, and we didn't notice any noise from passing cars when we visited.Smoking rooms are available.

Features

Pool, gym, free breakfast, restaurant, business center, and free Wi-Fi

Of all its features, the rooftop pool and sundeck is Broadway's standout. It has city views that guests can take in from relaxing loungers. The gym, on the other hand, is small and modest with only a few cardio and weight machines, and free weights. Breakfast, included in the rates, consists of two hot items, such as sausage and eggs, along with pastries, yogurt, cereals, meats, cheeses, and fruits. The Broadway Marilyn Monroe Restaurant, open for lunch and dinner, serves international cuisine. The hotel has a business center with couches and two public desktop computers. Wi-Fi is free throughout. On-site paid parking is subject to availability.
