Located in chic Palermo Soho, this boutique upper-middle-range hotel with 15 rooms occupies a beautiful historic building that has been
renovated with an eye on retaining its original charm. Though the guest rooms
tend to be small, they're clean, tastefully decorated, and bright thanks
to their large windows. The free a la carte breakfasts and weekend brunches are excellent, and the rooftop terrace with a whirlpool is a popular
place to relax. Guests are
pampered with a welcome drink and free chocolates are part of the
turndown service. For similar rates, nearby Aspen Square has extra amenities like
a rooftop pool and lofted fitness center, but less character.
Scene
A renovated historic building with a mix of classic and modern design
Located on a pleasant tree-lined street, Vain
Boutique Hotel is housed in a historic French-style building dating back to
1900, with delicate sculpted moldings on its facade, high windows and doorways,
and beautiful wrought-iron doors and balcony railings. The interior of the
building was renovated in a way to create bright and modern spaces, while
keeping the charm of the original building intact. On the ground floor next to
the small reception area is a spacious and bright bar and restaurant, with
original pine floors, high ceilings, and large windows letting in plenty of
light. A glass door next to the reception counter leads to a small central
courtyard set with potted plants. A highlight of the property is its pleasant rooftop
terrace with wooden floorboards and a hot tub in the corner. The furnishings of
the public spaces are a mix of antique-style furniture, with more contemporary
pieces in soft tones of beige and gray complementing the bare white walls and
original wooden floorboards. This boutique hotel is popular with couples
interested in exploring one of Buenos Aires' trendiest neighborhoods and all
its historical and cultural offerings.

Rooms
Bright, clean, and tastefully decorated rooms
The 15 guest rooms at Vain
Boutique Hotel are bright and tastefully decorated, with lots of understated
white: White walls, white furniture, and white bed linens -- creating an
attractive contrast with the beautiful hardwood floors. However, space is at a
premium here because of the limitations of an old, historic building: The
smallest rooms cover an area of only 193 square feet, while the largest rooms
are not all that much bigger at 270 square feet. Bathrooms are also tight
on space, and in many rooms, the vanity sink is located inside the room, next
to the bathroom door. Junior Rooms feature stylish walk-in showers with mosaic
tiles, while Senior Rooms have whirlpool bathtubs. A few rooms have period
French doors, and some feature a small outdoor terrace. There are a few signs that
some of the bathrooms are due for an update, like the cracked floors and dirty
grout in the showers, or problems with drainage. The guest rooms on the ground
floor situated around the small central courtyard can be noisy, and do not get
as much light as upper-level rooms. All rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, safes, hairdryers, plethora of free toiletries, and a
selection of different pillows.
Features
Excellent a la carte breakfast, lounge, wine bar, rooftop terrace
The free breakfast on offer
at Vain Boutique Hotel is highly praised by past guests. Served a la carte,
there’s a variety of breads and pastries, fresh fruit, eggs made to order, and
Italian-style coffee with steamed milk. On the weekends, breakfasts are
replaced by brunch, which is also highly rated. Lunch and dinner aren't served at the hotel. There’s a cozy lounge of
comfortable couches and a selection of books and magazines where guests can
relax and unwind, or use the desktop computer, which is connected to the Internet. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. The wine bar on the ground floor, or the rooftop terrace and hot tub, are also
popular places to unwind at the end of the day. Bicycles are available for
rent, and other services are available on request include laundry,
massage, and a printer and fax service.
