Pousadas Unicornio is a solid accommodation option for those who wish to have a quiet and romantic place away from the busy and noisy scene of downtown Búzios. The pousada offers a spacious lobby/lounge decorated with a Mediterranean vibe. A vaulted wooden ceiling and rustic style ceramic tiles look elegant. The lobby consists of two levels that offer sitting areas, a TV room, and a billiard area. Rattan furniture, colorful paintings, and fresh flowers decorate the public areas. The second level offers beautiful views of the bay of Ferradura and the large, inviting pool area below.

The Pousadas Unicornio is located on a hill at the extreme end of Ferradura beach. It offers a quiet location, that may feel isolated, but for many, that's an advantage. The area around the hotel is protected federal land, thus there are hardly any neighbors as construction of new buildings is prohibited. The location is off the beaten track, and guests staying at the pousada often use private cars, taxis, or free minivan transportation provided by the hotel. Distance to downtown Búzios is about a 10- to 15-minute drive depending on the traffic. Búzios offers decent dining and a vibrant bar and nightlife scene. Rua das Pedras is the heart of the city, filled with bars, restaurants, cafes, and small shops and boutiques selling bikinis and beach wear. The most photographed spot is the statue of Brigitte Bardot, by local sculptor Christina Motta. The French actress visited Búzios in the 1960s and made the then small fishing village world famous. Today Búzios is considered among the top three beach resorts in South America. 

Sheltered Ferradura beach is 200 meters down from the pousada. It offers excellent, calm waters to swim and relax. The pousada provides free sun beds, umbrellas, and towels at the beach. The area is well known for sea-turtles, which can be frequently spotted diving in the ocean.

The Pousadas Unicornio features 32 rooms and suites in four categories: Standard, Suite, Unicornio (suite), and Presidential Suite. They all feature exceptionally large balconies and most of them offer spectacular ocean views. The views from the Presidential suite are among the best that Buzios has to offer. Decor features Spanish-style ceramic tile floors, quiet pastel colors on walls, and vaulted, wooden ceilings that provide an extra sense of space. Wooden writing desks and chairs are provided. All rooms have air-conditioning, safes, stocked minibars, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. The medium-to large-size bathrooms look a bit dated, but the black and white ceramic tile banner creates an old world vibe. The spacious bathroom at the Presidential suite offers a whirlpool with tropical, ocean views. All bathrooms come with toiletries and hairdryers. Note that only some of the rooms pick up the free Wi-Fi signal from the public spaces. 

The Pousadas Unicornio offers loads of relaxing and convenient features. There's a charming pool area with a wooden deck set with sun loungers that overlooks picturesque Ferradura Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The restaurant opens to the pool area. Free breakfast buffet consists of fresh fruits, juices, cakes, breads, eggs, and sausages. A la carte meals for lunch and dinner include international cuisine and Brazilian delicacies; half-board packages are available. The pool bar serves cocktails. 

One unexpected feature is the modern and stylish spa. It's beautifully decorated with stones, fresh flowers, and candles. Treatments are available and there's an indoor hot tub, steam room, and Finnish sauna. Upstairs is a tiny fitness center with a modern treadmill and stationary bike. Free meditation classes, yoga, and short hikes are offered seasonally. 

Parking and a shuttle to Búzios are free. Wi-Fi is free in the public areas. The front desk staff sells excursions and can arrange airport transfers.
