The 30-room Casa Turquesa Boutique Hotel
is a four-pearl property located directly on Cancun’s beachfront
with stunning sea views. Most of the rooms are spacious
suites, with separate living and dining areas, huge bathrooms, and full
kitchens. All rooms have private, furnished balconies or terraces (some with hot tubs), but they don't have coffeemakers or minibars, and there's a fee for in-room Wi-Fi. Property highlights include three on-site restaurants, a tennis court, and an
infinity pool overlooking the sea. A renovation project, started in 2015,
updated a few rooms, with the plan to gradually
update the remaining rooms from their somewhat dated look. This small, intimate property is pricey compared to large luxury chains like the JW Marriott
Cancun Resort & Spa, and for some travelers the latter could offer a better value.
Scene
Small oceanfront boutique property with an art theme
Located directly on the beachfront, the four-pearl Casa
Turquesa Boutique Hotel is housed in an attractive white-washed three-story
building. The owner is an art lover and painter, and the hotel doubles as an
art gallery, with more than 500 paintings and sculptures scattered around the
property, in the lobby and reception area, hallways, as well as in the rooms. The lobby is very bright thanks to its high ceilings and large, arched
windows, and it's accented by a red marble floor and a beautiful spiral
staircase with cast-iron banisters at the center. The management caters to
couples -- including honeymooners and couples of all ages -- but this is also a popular
holiday property with families. Past guests have included celebrities and
royalty. Due to its small size, the atmosphere is intimate and quiet, from the pool to the peaceful stretch of sand right on the hotel's doorstep.
Location
In the center of Cancun’s hotel zone
Located in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone,
Casa Turquesa Boutique Hotel is right on the white sand beach with excellent ocean views. This property is surrounded by other hotels and is next to the
upmarket shopping mall, Kukulcan Plaza. There are restaurants and shops within
walking distance. The IBEROSTAR Golf Club is a 20-minute drive away, it’s a
16-minute drive to Cancun city center, and Cancun International Airport is a
24-minute drive away. The Mayan ruins at Tulum are a one-hour and 50-minute
drive away, while those at Coba are a two-and-a-half-hour drive away.
Rooms
Spacious rooms and suites with balconies or terraces
Most of the rooms at
Casa Turquesa Boutique Hotel are spacious suites with separate living and
dining areas, full kitchens, and huge bathrooms. Each room or suite also has a
hot tub located either in a corner of the sea-facing balcony (or terrace in the
case of the ground-floor rooms) or in a corner of the bedroom with double
sliding doors which can be opened to the outdoors. The older suites have a
dated look. Red marble floors and dark wood paneling on the walls are a bit
of an eyesore, and the wall-to-wall portraits hanging on the walls of some of
the rooms are a bit overpowering. The renovated suites, however, are completely
different in style, with a more modern and understated look, featuring tasteful
mahogany furniture and soft gray upholstery and tiling on the floors, and a
contemporary-style tableau in neutral colors. All the rooms have
air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and clock radios with iPod connectivity,
but they're missing extras like coffeemakers and minibars. Also, there is a fee for in-room Wi-Fi. Past guests have complained of signs of wear and
tear in the older rooms and suites, and noisy air-conditioning units.
Features
Three on-site restaurants, large swimming pool, beach, tennis court, and spa
There are three on-site
restaurants at Casa Turquesa Boutique Hotel. The El Mirador Restaurant has a
stunning location overlooking the swimming pool and the sea, while the
Celebrity offers a more formal dining room setting. Terraza Belle Vue is an
open-air restaurant under a thatched roof overlooking the lagoon. The hotel's infinity
pool is large and overlooks the sea, with several sun loungers and an adjacent bar. Thatched umbrellas and sun loungers, plus a few day beds can be found fronting the property's gorgeous white-sand beach. The on-site spa offers massages
and beauty treatments, and there’s also an outdoor tennis court. Free Wi-Fi is available
in the hotel’s public areas only.
