Eden Hotel & Spa

Eden Hotel is housed in a nondescript building on Antibes Street, one of the main shopping areas in Cannes. Lobby decor is contemporary if a little bland, with dark floors, a long dark wooden front desk, and a small sitting area with a cream-colored couch. However, there are a few exotic touches -- including a couple of steel elephants, bamboo sticks, and slender statues painted in bright colors -- that make it feel less generic. There is also a fountain with koi fish and plants on one side of the lobby, and large windows that let in plenty of light. This decor style extends to the bar, and a little less conspicuously to the hotel's popular restaurant, Akwaba. The color palette used in rooms resembles those found in pagodas, with a variety of bright reds and blacks. In fact, the hotel has an Afro-Japanese-themed decor throughout without feeling overdone. 

The hotel is located on a narrow one-way street lined with boutiques. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few blocks, and Rue Meynadier -- a pedestrian street full of stores -- is a 15-minute walk way. The beach and its promenade, chock-full of hotels, high-end boutiques, and restaurants is just down the street. Those looking to explore the French Riviera by train can find Cannes’ main train station a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport can be reached by car in just under 30 minutes

The hotel offers 117 spacious, contemporary rooms, all featuring flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, organic cotton sheets, minibars, coffeemakers, free bottled water, and latex mattresses. Decor is contemporary and cheerful, with a red and black palette of a slight Japanese inspiration, and wooden floors. Most bathrooms are small but clean, and feature shower/tub combos and hotel-brand toiletries. Economy Rooms are the cheapest units in the hotel, and have small windows offering limited views. The rest of the room types, however, have large windows, and some feature furnished balconies or terraces with ocean views. Adjoining rooms are available upon request.

The spa is a relaxing space offering several massage rooms -- including one for couples -- and a long list of treatments, such as signature massages, facials, waxing, and slimming treatments. All guests get free access to the hammam, the whirlpool, and the heated indoor lap pool, which is open year-round. The restaurant serves a mix of Mediterranean, traditional French and Asian cuisine in a contemporary space with lots of beige and brown accents. It is a popular spot, so reservations are recommended. The hotel also offers extensive meeting space, including an auditorium for up to 115 guests. The highlight here, however, is the rooftop terrace, complete with a lovely pool and loungers -- but there’s a fee for use of the facilities, and only a maximum of 10 guests are allowed in at any given time.
