Bottom Line

The Pierre & Vacances Residence Cannes Verrerie is a budget 250-apartment holiday complex situated on the outskirts of town overlooking Cannes Bay. Apartments are mostly pleasant with good cooking facilities and furnished terraces, though some are definitely too small for groups. The pool and nearby beach provide plenty of opportunities to splash about, though loungers have to be hired. Overall, it's not a bad option for a cheap family break, though don't expect much in the way of service or space.

Pierre & Vacances Residence Cannes Verrerie

Scene

Budget holiday complex with simple, family-friendly vibe

Although part of the same apartment complex as the P&V Residence Cannes Beach, the P&V Residence Cannes Verrerie immediately makes a better impression -- a pleasant palm-tree lined path leads into a bright, modern lobby area dotted with wicker furnishings, potted plants, and black-and-white movie-themed photographs. The hotel is still a pretty simple set-up, but centered around a circular seasonal swimming pool surrounded by sun terraces and well-maintained Mediterranean gardens. The atmosphere varies by season, but summer sees an influx of families with young kids splashing about in the pool or at the sandy beach nearby.

Location

Set in residential area close to airport overlooking Cannes Bay

The complex is located in a largely residential area overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and Cannes Bay, a couple miles or around a 10-minute drive from the center of town. The Bosquet train station is just minutes walk away, while the Cannes Mandelieu Airport is just five minutes by car. Through a tunnel running under the railway and a busy seafront road, there there's a thin strip of sandy beach within two minutes walk, though the town's best beaches are about a five-minute drive along the coast.

Note: station is not a terminal as described on previous P&V property

Rooms

Pleasant but small self-catering apartments with balconies -- some with sea views

The complex has 250 apartments, all of which are decorated in a simple, contemporary style with colorful fabrics and modern furnishings. Kitchens provide basic but adequate facilities and cookware, while bathrooms are clean and modern (though towels cost extra). A lounge area with sofa bed and TV opens onto a furnished terrace or balcony; some of these have lovely sea views (though also views of the railway). The downsides are that some apartments are definitely a bit small, especially for larger groups, beds are on the hard side, and air-conditioning doesn't come standard.
