Bottom Line

Opened in 2012, the trendy Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche offers a central location that's a two-minute walk from Casa Port railway station and a 10-minute walk from the Old Medina. While not quite the five-pearl luxury property it bills itself as, the four-and-a-half pearl Sofitel does feature a full-service spa, indoor splash pool, hammam steam room, hot tub, and two restaurants. The 171 contemporary rooms feature comfy beds, Bose audio systems, and flat-screen TVs. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but expect to pay extra for breakfast and many spa services. The nearby Hyatt Regency Casablanca has comparable facilities for a lower price.

Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche

Scene

Contemporary chain hotel combines Moroccan accents with trendy interiors

Sofitel Casablanca Tour Blanche is housed in a white 24-story building with a high-ceilinged atrium-style entryway. Guests enter to a typical Moroccan greeting of free mint tea and pastries, served in a contemporary black-and-white lobby with chocolate leather seating, potted flowers, and gold backlit reception desk area. The lobby level has avant garde hanging sculptures and lighting sconces plus a winding staircase with lattice-screen style railings. The black-and-white look also prevails in the spa, but it's offset by the shimmering aqua green of the indoor pool. The stylish cocktail lounge features violet and yellow seating, art on the walls, a bookshelf with art and architecture books, and an outdoor terrace with plants. The hotel tends to attract tourists, who like the central location and wealth of facilities, while the meeting rooms are a plus for business types.
