The Astoria Park is a small upper-middle-range hotel centrally located in Lloret de Mar. Room decor is a little generic and basic, but all units have balconies, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Many feature jetted tubs. There’s a solid buffet restaurant with outdoor seating, and a lobby bar with a few computers. But the highlight here is arguably the rooftop heated pool complete with a sauna, a steam room and two whirlpools. The hotel’s proximity to the beach doesn’t hurt either.
Scene
A small, mostly quiet hotel catering to couples
This property is easily identifiable even from a distance. Its white and yellow balconies jut out like boxes suspended mid-air, giving the façade a somewhat futuristic look, and adding a quirky touch to an otherwise fairly nondescript street. The property has been renovated several times, and while there’s nothing quite remarkable about the common areas, they’re all clean, mostly contemporary, and well-maintained. The hotel is popular with families and couples, which means it’s less busy and loud than nearby all-inclusive properties.
Location
Right in the city center, a few blocks from the beach
The hotel is located in the heart of the city center, blocks from restaurants, bars, nightlife, and shopping. Right across the street from the property is a square where a few bars have a handful of tables, but the area is a little quieter than other parts of Lloret. The town’s main beach is just down the street, and Fenals Beach -- a somewhat quieter spot -- is a five-minute drive away. Girona-Costa Brava Airport, served by low-cost airlines, is a 25-minute drive away. Barcelona can be reached by car in just under an hour.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with balconies and flat-screen TVs
The hotel features 128 rooms, all of which are spacious and bright, and have a small balcony overlooking either a narrow street or a small square. Room decor is a tad generic (light-colored bedspreads, basic wooden furniture, and terrazzo or tiled floors), though most have a couple of nice touches -- including headboards meant to look like slate. Flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi are standard amenities. All bathrooms have been updated with flat design sinks, and some have jetted tubs instead of shower/tub combos. Adjoining rooms are available.
Features
A solid restaurant, and a great rooftop area with a heated pool
The hotel features a spacious restaurant serving a solid, well-priced buffet; a lobby bar; a small business center with a few computers; and covered parking (for a fee). However, the highlight here is the rooftop area, which features a small hated pool with mosaic tiling, panoramic views, a sauna, a steam room, and two hot tubs.
