The 300 rooms here are laid out in white-stucco, five-story buildings that look directly onto the beach. The property is very popular with families with children because of its proximity to the water, children’s play area, and lovely outdoor pool with stunning views of the sea. There are some reports of issues with cleanliness and also poor volume control in the hotel in general, and in the dining room, which can get quickly overwhelmed with guests, resulting in long lines. This property, which sits within a 15-minute walk of the Platja d’Aro commercial district, could be a good value for the money or overrated -- depending on the season and crowds.

'70s-inspired architecture abounds here, inside and out, from the wood-paneled sign on the residential street where the hotel is located, to the flagstone-covered pillar supporting the main facade of the hotel. The lobby, restaurant, and bar are slightly more modern, and have a combination of linoleum and wooden floors. Common areas also provide a good number of comfortable chairs for lounging within view of the floor-to-ceiling windows, which lead out onto the back patio and terrace of Cafe del Mar Bar, one of the hotel’s main attractions. The bar also offers drinks indoors amongst handsome leather furniture, dark wood floors, and bright yellow walls adorned with modern art.

The property is set on a quiet and wide residential street slightly to the north of town; numerous shops and restaurants are an easy 15-minute walk away. The hotel overlooks a sandy beach. Platja d’Aro is a 30-minute drive from the Girona airport. There are also private bus lines linking Platja d’Aro to the Girona airport, but this takes about two hours, with one transfer and a cab ride from the town bus station to the hotel.
