Bottom Line

The Prestige Victoria is a three-pearl property with unobstructed sea views of Santa Margarita Beach across the street. Its large and bright 208 rooms, all with balconies and many with views of the water, are simply decorated and a bit worn. There's a restaurant for all-day dining (full-board packages are available) and a bar with nightly live entertainment. Two pools, including one for children, are set in lush green lawns. Other features include a small fitness center and a spa with a sauna, steam room, and pool for hydrotherapy. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby. Guests, who tend to be older French and Spanish couples, complain about the hotel's lack of parking and uninspired food. For a more updated property with a pool -- but no sea view -- travelers could try the Hotel Marina.

Prestige Victoria Hotel & Spa Elit

Scene

Dated property with sweeping sea views, popular with retirees

The Prestige Victoria, with an off-white and orange facade, is crisp from the outside. However, the interiors are a bit shabby. Except for a pretty mosaic glass ceiling above the reception area, the lobby is rather bland and offers limited seating. The main restaurant, anonymous in style, includes small wooden tables set with white tablecloths and columns in wood with green marble accents; the floor is black marble. Banks of windows, outfitted with Roman shades, overlook the outdoor pool. The bar area is far more casual and rather dark due to the dark wood and black marble floor. Racks of packaged potato chips and plastic bins of candy bars sit on offer, and wooden chairs with red upholstered seats are placed in conversational clusters. The outdoor pools, bean-shaped with stone terraces set in lush grass, are nicely maintained. There are white plastic loungers with cobalt cushions and some shady spots, including a pergola on a terrace next to the dining room. Aspects of the spa are quite pretty, including a mosaic tile pool room with soft lighting and modern sauna and steam rooms. The treatment spaces, however, resemble operating rooms, and the small, windowless fitness center seems like an afterthought. The property is popular with retired French and Spanish tourists.

Rooms

Spacious, bright, and dated rooms

Rooms at the Prestige Victoria are spacious and quite bright with big sliding glass doors that lead to balconies, many with views of the sea. Tasteful, black woven table-and-chair sets give a spot to sit and drink in the view. But rooms themselves are spartan and cheaply furnished. Beds have wall-mounted, rosy wood headboards and simple sconce lights. Linens are white and bedspreads are either in white or worn floral fabric. Twin beds are occasionally pushed together to make a double bed. Some of the desks and desk chairs are nicked. Still, polished wood floors, free of drab carpeting, lends a clean, summery feel to the spaces. All rooms have air-conditioning, small flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. Wi-Fi and safes cost extra. Higher-category rooms have space for lumpy upholstered sofas and more spacious terraces with loungers. The bathrooms are a bit dour with gray marble walls and granite counters, though there are modern fixtures and fittings. The tub/shower combinations are covered with fabric curtains. Hairdryers are old and wall-mounted, and tiny foil packets of toiletries are placed in baskets.

Features

Two pools, an extensive spa, and nightly live music

The Prestige Victoria has a sizable array of amenities for its price. There are two outdoor pools, including one for children with loungers. There's also a pool in the spa, which has steam and sauna rooms, chromotherapy, and various treatments such as massages and facials. The fitness center, windowless and small, includes treadmills, stationary bikes, and free weights. For food, there's all day dining with full- and half-board packages available. There are also snacks for sale in the bar with a menu that includes light fare. Past guests note that the food is varied but unimaginative, like canned fruit for dessert. The hotel has a TV lounge, and its lobby offers free newspapers, a guest computer, and free Wi-Fi. For entertainment, singers and musicians perform every night, though its often the same show. The front desk is staffed 24 hours and offers free luggage storage; there are fees to use its safety deposit boxes. The property is handicapped accessible, and limited parking is available for a fee.
