Bottom Line

The Discovery Point Club is made up of one- and two-bedroom condos with fully equipped kitchens, spacious living rooms, and gorgeous ocean views. As with most condos in the area, the units are individually owned and decorated; the furnishings here are typically modern and welcoming. Located along Seven Mile Beach, the Club has a large but slightly rocky beach and a beautiful pool and hot tub area. This relaxing property is well-suited to both couples and families coming to Grand Cayman for a longer stay.

Discovery Point Club

Scene

Quiet and relaxing; good for both couples and families

The Club has a quiet, serene, and laid-back ambiance. The pool and beach area are well-maintained, offer beautiful views, and have a few tables where guests can hang out or eat a meal. Sunsets over the beach are spectacular.

With the exception of the beach, The Discovery Point Club lacks common space, and there is no on-site restaurant or bar. The Club has a private, relaxing atmosphere, where most guests hang out in their condo or by the pool at night.

The Club is ideal for groups or families, and especially guests coming for an extended stay (more than a few days). The subdued atmosphere makes it attractive to a healthy number of couples as well. Guests can cook in the fully equipped kitchen, do laundry, and enjoy the their condos in privacy.

Location

On the quiet northern end of Seven Mile Beach

Discovery Point is located on the northern end of Grand Cayman’s famous Seven Mile Beach. A few minutes north from the more touristy strip of the beach, the Club is still a short ride (less than five minutes) from restaurants, shopping, bars, and entertainment. The Club has easy access to points of interest in West Bay, including The Cracked Conch restaurant, Cayman Island Turtle Farm, and Tortuga Bakery. The beach is a tad rocky and not as smooth here as it is along other areas of Seven Mile coast.

Rooms

Updated, modern, private condos

Like most condominiums in the area, the units are individually owned and decorated, with strong similarities in the layout. The condos have been updated and it shows -- the furnishings are contemporary and stylish, yet functional. The units are spotless, and the ones we saw all had cheerful color accents and fabrics with tasteful, homey prints.

Each condo has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, and porch overlooking the beach. The second bedroom in the condo can be closed off for those who want to rent one-bedroom accommodations. Guests have different choices of bed arrangements in the unit (such as two king beds, or one king and two twin beds). The windows in the second bedroom often face the wall of another building, which makes that room quite dark. Bathrooms are small but adequate and updated with beautiful tile finishing. Every condo is oceanfront, and the porch areas provide gorgeous tropical views. The porch is large, with enough room for a table and a few lounge chairs.

The condos come equipped with everything guests may need for an extended stay. Full kitchens have plates, cups, and utensils, as well as appliances and cooking tools. There is also a washer/dryer in every condo. The living room area is spacious with plenty of seating and a flat-screen TV. Many have Blu-ray players or a PlayStation.

Features

The pool and beach are stunning, but there is not much else in the way of property features.

The pool and beach area are the main features here. The pool is decent-sized and overlooks the ocean. There are tables and chairs surrounding the pool, making the area a great place to hang out or eat a meal. The path leading up to the beach and pool area is beautifully landscaped and lined with palm trees, making it feel like you’re walking into a tropical oasis. A hot tub completes the pool area.

There is a large stretch of beach with room for two rows of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Palm trees dot the space. The Club’s location along Seven Mile Beach means the sand is white and the water is a gorgeous turquoise blue. However, the beach is a bit rocky. While the beach tends to be nicer a bit farther south (the beaches at Villas of the Galleon, Plantana Condiminiums, or Lacovia Condiminiums, are less rocky), the area is still beautiful.

Discovery Point also has two large tennis courts and a small room for guest laundry. As with other condominiums in the area, property features are sparse, as guests can cook and do laundry in the privacy of their own condos.

Free high-speed Wi-Fi is offered throughout the condos.
