Bottom Line

This 87-room BEST WESTERN is a budget hotel on an extremely busy road with attractions, highways, restaurants, and the airport all nearby. Dated and tired rooms have standard chain decor with mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. Additionally, guests complain of musty and smoky smells in some spaces, which might also get hallway and traffic noise. Nonetheless, this hotel features Charleston’s largest outdoor pool and has a free breakfast. Free coffee, tea, and newspapers are offered in the lobby and free Wi-Fi and parking are also available. Although the hotel is pet-friendly, there are daily fees and restrictions.

Oyster Hotel Review

Best Western Charleston Inn

Scene

A chain hotel in need of an update

A friendly atmosphere rolls throughout the hotel. Free coffee, tea, and newspapers are available in the lobby, which has fake potted plants and an overall brown palette. The breakfast room has green tiling, a flat-screen TV, and floor-to-ceiling windows along with light wood tables. A few comfortable chairs decorate the interior of the property while its exterior is set with black wrought iron seating. Grounds are well kept with trees, shrubs, and flowers. Open-air hallways have vending machines. However, this hotel is generally outdated with a pink and green exterior and essentially no common areas. Those with mobility issues should also be aware that there are no elevators.

South Carolina Aquarium, Waterfront Park, Port of Charleston Cruise Passenger Terminal, and Charleston City Market are about 15 minutes away by car, as is Charleston International Airport. Parking at the hotel is free and easy.

Rooms

Chain-style rooms with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and microwaves

Air-conditioned guest units here are outfitted in basic chain decor, which includes green carpets, multicolored bed runners, and generic artwork. Tan armchairs provide extra seating while flat-screen TVs sit on top of light wood dressers. Coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and microwaves are stacked on top of each other. Some rooms have pleasant pool views. Carpets are stained however and the furniture has wear and tear marks. Additionally, some rooms have musty or smoky smells and get loud traffic and hallway noise. Bathrooms are clean with curtained shower/tub combos and white countertops that offer lots of space. Bright lighting illuminates the space and AQUAMER toiletries are provided, but the brown and white tile work is tired and unstylish.
