Review Summary

Photos and Review by

  • In the heart of Uptown Charlotte, within walking distance to major attractions
  • Airy rooms come with comfy beds, iHome docks and flat-screen TVs
  • Acclaimed Savannah Red restaurant on-site, plus a sports bar, a cigar bar, and a cafe
  • Large indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi
  • Modern (but smallish) fitness center

  • Fee for Wi-Fi
  • Fee for valet and self-parking
  • Some rooms don't have a mini-fridge

Bottom Line

This 434-room Marriott is a notch above your typical chain hotel -- the spacious rooms may have somewhat chain-like decor (lots of golds and dark wood), but they come complete with high-tech amenities (such as iHome docks and flat-screen TVs). There's also a large heated pool and whirlpool, a fitness center packed with modern machines, and a renowned restaurant on-site. Its location in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, close to major tourist attractions, restaurants and bars, is a huge plus -- but you'll have to pay for Internet access and parking.

Smack-dab in the heart of hopping Uptown Charlotte, close to major sites and sports arenas

The Marriott City Center is centrally located in the heart of bustling Uptown, where most major attractions and sports arenas, along with corporate offices and banks, are. The property is located two blocks from the Time Warner Cable Arena and a 15-minute walk to the Bank of America Stadium, where the Charlotte Panthers play.

Uptown Charlotte is home to the majority of the city's hotels, as well as the business district and numerous parks. Many Uptown hotels are within walking distance of museums, like the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and performance centers, including the Center for African American Arts and Culture, a multi-purpose center that hosts special events and exhibitions. Those looking for a less traditional museum may consider checking out the highly popular NASCAR Hall of Fame.
