What It's Like
Streeterville is one of Chicago's most affluent neighborhoods, with renowned restaurants and luxurious condos lining its streets. The area is home to attractions such as the Navy Pier, the John Hancock Observatory and the Museum of Contemporary Art, and its proximity to the Magnificent Mile makes it one of the city's top upscale shopping destinations. It's a great base for exploring the rest of the city: The neighborhood sits across the river from the Loop and Millennium Park, and most of Chicago's top tourist attractions are within walking distance.
Where To Stay
Streeterville is bounded by the Magnificent Mile to the west, the Chicago River and the Loop to the south, and Lake Michigan to the east. For good views of the river or of the lake, stay in the southern and eastern parts of the neighborhood. But it you want to be closer to the high-end boutiques and expensive restaurants, stay on the west side, on any of the side streets off of North Michigan Avenue. Since the neighborhood is only a few blocks wide by a dozen blocks long, anywhere you stay will be within walking distance of the top tourist sites.
