Coconut Cove All-Suite Hotel

Located on Clearwater Beach, Coconut Cove Suites is situated halfway between the ocean and the intracoastal waterway. The exterior of the three-story building is peach-colored with red trim and looks more like a motel than a traditional hotel building. Parking is available underneath the building (on the first floor), and there are no elevators that go to the second and third floors, so guests with lots of luggage or have difficulty climbing stairs may want to request a room on the lower level.

The lobby is tiny and includes a coffee and tea station, flat-screen TV, and a check-in desk with tourist brochures. There's no inside gathering place for guests to sit and relax, and there’s no on-site restaurant. The outdoor pool deck, which has a number of tables and chairs shaded by umbrellas, is the best feature of the property.

The property is located across the street and through a parking lot from a small beach at the Quality Inn. The public beach and Pier 60, which is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shopping, is located a little less than a mile away (possible walking distance for some guests) or is about a five-minute drive (although parking can be tricky). There is a trolley that stops near the hotel. The hotel offers guests dining discounts at IHOP, which is located across the street.

Rooms are spacious and range from one- to two-bedroom suites, with typical hotel-style furnishings. The full size kitchens with stainless steel appliances are nice for guests who prefer to cook their own meals instead of going out to eat. They have refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, and coffeemakers (though they brew only one cup at a time). There is a cleaning fee applied automatically to each reservation, and housekeeping doesn’t clean the room fully every day. There are no elevators in the hotel, so if stairs pose a difficulty, request a room on the first floor. The walls are thin, and noise tends to travel easily throughout the hotel, so rooms on the top floor are quieter.

The pool is impressive for a value hotel -- it’s shaped like a lagoon and has a rock waterfall with a shaded area with seating. The beach that is closest to the hotel is usually crowded, and it’s tiny. Lounge chairs and umbrellas for the beach are available for a fee at the Quality Inn across the street. There are two computers and a printer available for guests' use in the business center, and there is one coin-operated washer and dryer, which is often in use. Parking is available on-site for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
