Hyatt Place College Station

This modern hotel’s lobby is designed to encourage guests to relax, dine, and drink there throughout the day, with a small granite bar that stays open 24/7 and clusters of comfy chairs. It’s a bright and inviting space that features high ceilings and soft earth tones. At the far end of the lobby, there's long bench seating, a TV, and wooden tables in the breakfast area. During peak times, the breakfast room can get quite crowded with the many college families who stay here, especially on fall alumni weekends when the Aggies play home games. Overall, it’s a relatively peaceful and pleasant hotel.  

The Hyatt Place is located on busy University Drive, surrounded by other hotels and restaurants. Several restaurants are within walks of five minutes or less, including a deli and Red Lobster next door. It takes seven minutes to drive into the heart of the Texas A&M University campus, and about 10 minutes to reach Kyle Field where the beloved Aggies play football. Easterwood Airport and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum are 13-minute drives. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a two-hour drive, while Houston’s two airports take roughly 90 minutes by car to reach, depending on traffic. 

The hotel's modern and spacious guest rooms are configured like studio suites, with separate seating areas that have light brown sleeper sofas and corner desks with office chairs. Partial walls provide some privacy in bedroom areas, with swiveling, 42-inch flat-screen TVs that can be seen from both spaces. Walls are white, except for grayish-brown accent walls, and the matching wood furniture has a reddish-brown finish. Bedding is bright-white and a distinctive geometric pattern in carpeting adds some energy, but the lack of vibrant colors and rather small windows make the rooms a bit dark. Still, they're pleasant and well-maintained, and standard amenities include coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no microwaves. 

Bathrooms are clean and well-maintained, and have wide en-suite vanities outside bathrooms, which have either roomy walk-in showers with glass doors (Kings) or shower/tub combos (Double Queens). The beige tiling framing the walk-in showers is more attractive that the faux marble tiling around the shower/tub combos. All rooms are relatively quiet, but those facing the busy road fronting the property tend to hear more ambient noise. Views are unremarkable. 

This hotel’s amenities are designed to maximize guest convenience and access, with a 24-hour shop in the lobby that serves Starbucks coffee, hot items like pizzas, soups, and flatbreads, plus a full range of beer, wine, and liquor. It also has a grab-and-go counter with drinks, salads, and desserts. Every morning, a free breakfast buffet is served that includes cage-free eggs, waffles, and other hot options in addition to fresh fruit and Greek yogurt. Room service is available. 

The spacious fitness center also is open 24 hours, featuring six pieces of LifeFitness cardio equipment and free weights. The indoor saltwater pool is a bit small, but it’s heated and open year-round, and the space has a whirlpool and several tables and loungers. A business center has two computers and remote printing capabilities from guest rooms, and two meeting rooms can accommodate functions of up to 80 people. Valet dry cleaning and laundry are among the concierge services, and there's a 24-hour guest laundry room. Parking and Wi-Fi throughout are free, and pets are welcome with a surcharge.
