Casa las Palmas Hotel Boutique

The Casa las Palmas Hotel Boutique was previously a private home, and it still feels much like one. The lobby is situated in the former living area, with a huge white sectional packed with pillows and surrounded by large windows. This is a popular hangout spot, as is a covered outdoor seating area. The place is well-decorated with wooden island furniture plus colorful accessories and artwork. It's most popular with couples, but families and groups also stay here to take advantage of the quiet, relaxing vibe. 

This little place is situated on a remote dirt road at the southern end of San Andres Island, a 10- to 15-minute walk from the beach. There's not much else in the immediate vicinity except a couple of private homes. Most guests choose to rent a scooter or golf cart to get around the island. The town of San Luis, which has a 19th-century feel, is about 10 minutes away by car, and San Andres Town, which has shopping options, is about a 30-minute drive north. Johnny Cay Park at the northern tip of the island is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Also plan on about a 30-minute drive to reach Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport at the northern end of the island. 

Spacious rooms are basic, but bright, and decor varies a bit from one unit to the next. For instance, standard doubles and triples have bright blue accent walls and cheerful polka dot bed runners and accent pillows, with turquoise night stands and wardrobes. Flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall. Other amenities include air-conditioning, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. White-tiled bathrooms are accented with bright blue tiles and come with large walk-in showers, hairdryers, and toiletries in large eco-friendly containers, but counter space is limited. Some rooms have tubs as well. Suites are larger and overlook the pool from a furnished terrace. The master suite with an outdoor whirlpool is the largest and most popular unit at the hotel. 

This little place doesn't offer much in the way of features, but it does have a kitchen that serves a free breakfast daily, with fruits, breads, and a hot item such as eggs or waffles. A large wooden dining table seats eight guests, and three more can sit at the bar. Doors open to the patio and pool area, where guests can dine alfresco. Dinner is available, but must be ordered earlier in the day. Room service also is available during limited hours. 

The outdoor pool is a lovely space surrounded by lush tropical greenery and flowers. Hammocks hanging from the trees and cushioned lounge chairs on the deck invite poolside relaxation. One end of the pool has a whirlpool in front of a colorful tile mosaic fountain. 

A small fitness center has a few cardio and weight training machines, plus free weights and a punching bag. However, it's definitely seen better days. On-site parking is free, as is Wi-Fi throughout the property.
