Bottom Line

The three-pearl Movich Hotel Chico 97 is a sophisticated property that’s a 40-minute drive from Bogota’s Bolivar Plaza and other historic and popular attractions. With that in mind, most guests appreciate the stylish design and modern amenities versus an ideal location. The 75 rooms have flat-screen TVs and minibars, but with bottled water for a fee and no coffee- and tea-making facilities, they’re not as upscale as the hotel likes to advertise. With a free breakfast at the restaurant, a lovely rooftop terrace, and a modest gym, there’s enough to keep guests decently entertained in the mornings and evenings. Travelers might want to consider Hotel Tequendama which has a small spa and indoor pool for around the same rates.

Movich Hotel Chicó 97

Scene

Modern boutique hotel with an attractive rooftop terrace and clientele of mostly business travelers

Movich Hotel Chico 97 is a fresh and modern boutique hotel with contemporary elements throughout. The lobby is stylish with ample seating in a variety of tables and booths. Sophisticated taupe decorative elements combined with native-style prints in pillows, rugs, and decorative wall bowls make for an overall pleasing atmosphere. Though the lobby is a lovely place to interact thanks to a free coffee area and a bar open late into the evenings, the rooftop terrace is a contender for best place to hang out. Modern white chairs and a chic white couch sit on the terraced deck under a wood slated covering, lit by white Chinese paper globe lanterns. Due to a location far from the tourist areas and the sophisticated design, business travelers are the most common guests, followed by couples.

Location

A 40-minute drive to downtown Bogota and lots of dining options within a five-minute walk

Movich Hotel Chico 97 isn’t extremely ideal for Bogota tourists, as it’s a 40-minute drive to Bolivar Square and the Gold Museum. There are some attractions that are a little bit closer, like the Bogota Botanical Garden (30-minute drive), Luckia Casino (19-minute drive), and Centro Commercial Iserra (15-minute drive away), but they still require a car or taxi. There are, however, plenty of dining options and parks on surrounding streets and a bus stop that’s a three-minute walk away. It takes 52 minutes by car to reach the Bancolombia Airport El Dorado.
