Housed in a large modern brick building that frames a spacious courtyard, the Charlottehaven operates more like an apartment complex than a hotel. Its 44 apartments are used primarily by long-term guests, from families to corporate travelers staying for several days, weeks, or even months. The lobby is stylish and modern, featuring Scandinavian minimalism made bright by floor-to-ceiling windows. A marbled gray floor meets a long, light wood reception desk, behind which begins the cafe where long tables sit under hanging drum lights. This property's wellness facilities, aptly called the Health Club, also feel more like facilities in an upscale apartment complex -- they're spacious, modern, and well-equipped, a major step-up from the standard hotel gym. 

Charlottehaven overlooks the harbor in Østerbro, outside of the bustling heart of Copenhagen -- though Nordhavn S train station is only a three-minute walk away, giving access to the city center in under 10 minutes. There is a plethora of shops and eateries on Nordre Frihavnsgade (five-minute walk) and Østerbrogade (10-minute walk). Fælledparken, a large city park, is about a 12-minute walk away. Most major attractions are accessible via public transport in 15 to 20 minutes. Bikes, strollers, and car seats are available through the hotel, and parking is free on-site.

Charlottehaven has modern, homey apartments ideal for long-term stays, attracting traveling families and corporate guests. Apartments feature large windows that let in lots of natural light, light wood floors, and white walls, while wicker accents (headboards, storage ottomans, and chairs) add warmth. In living areas, a blue couch might be paired with gray armchairs and coordinating area rugs as well as glass-top coffee tables. Spacious kitchens with dining areas open onto roomy balconies with tables and chairs. Gray-tiled bathrooms include standing showers, laundry machines, and folding areas. 

An entry-level apartment (over 600 square feet or 56 square meters) includes a bedroom, a living room with a pullout sofa, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, a large balcony with seating for four, and a spacious bathroom. Penthouses measure over 1,000 square feet (93 square meters) and have two bedrooms and harbor views. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with DVDs, cable TV, digital radios, washers and dryers, and desks. Kitchens are equipped with full-size appliances including fridges, ovens, and dishwashers, and they include a huge range of cookware and dishes. They also include safes, cleaning supplies, and iron and ironing boards, and toiletry dispensers. Wi-Fi is free. Housekeeping comes weekly and changes towels and linens. Utilities (electric, water, and heating) cost an extra fee. Be aware that only penthouses have air-conditioning.

The Charlottehaven has all the amenities guests might need for a long-term stay. There's a spacious lobby cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (extra fees) during the week -- but not on weekends -- plus cafe items are also available via room service. In nice weather, guests can also eat outside in the courtyard, where there's a terrace with tables and chairs, a pathway through lawns, and a nice children's playground. 

The complex also has a health club that's a huge step up from classic hotel fitness facilities. The gym is full of modern cardio and weightlifting equipment, from free weights to machines, including treadmills with attached individual TVs. A second workout room includes a range of other workout supplies (kettle bells, yoga mats, exercise balls, and more). There's also a sauna, squash court, spacious locker rooms with individual shower stalls, and a nice, modern lap pool in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows (a swim cap is required in the pool). A variety of gym classes are available, including yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and strength classes. Massages can be arranged.

The hotel also has conference facilities, a Mac desktop computer and a printer in the lobby for guest use, and free Wi-Fi. Reception is open 24-hours, and the hotel offers laundry and dry cleaning services as well as children's amenities (including strollers, high chairs, and car seats). Pets are also welcome. Bike rentals are also available (extra fee), and free parking is available on-site. Apartments receive housekeeping weekly.
