Bottom Line

Originally established in 1755 and completely renovated in 2013, Copenhagen's iconic Hotel D'Angleterre is among the most luxurious in Europe. With an exquisite full-service spa, indoor pool and sauna, Michelin-rated restaurant, and glamorous Champagne bar, the intimate, 90-room hotel has everything you expect from a five-pearl experience. Most of the rooms are contemporary suites with creature comforts. Its central location on the Kongens Nytorv means nearly all the city’s attractions are within easy walking distance. Prices are, of course, high.

Hotel d’Angleterre

Scene

Luxury and romance in one of Copenhagen's most iconic buildings

Situated in one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful historic buildings, the Hotel D'Angleterre oozes luxury and romance inside and out. Doormen and bellhops greet guests at the entrance and, with fresh plants and flowers everywhere, the hotel’s lobby looks like a palace. There are plush velvety couches in front of the wood-burning fireplace, and antique mirrors, lamps, and ornate chandeliers hang throughout the hotel, some set high up in gilded domes. A grand staircase winds through the building’s six floors, making its grand descent into the lobby. The Balthazar Champagne bar with its long, black bar running the length of the room, is an elegant combination of contemporary and classic design. Modern cocktail tables are accompanied by high-back velvet chairs and the ceiling is hung with more ornate chandeliers. The indoor pool, despite not getting any natural light, is spacious and cavernous, with romantic lighting and modern pillars that hearken back to a Roman bath. The Grand Ballroom feel straight out of Cinderella. Hotel D' Angleterre is as romantic and luxurious as they come.
