Tivoli Hotel

Housed in two towers overlooking a cute garden with colorful art installations, the Tivoli Hotels complements the equally modern architecture in the area. Like its sister hotel, Copenhagen Island, the Tivoli was designed by Kim Utzon (son of the designer of the Sydney Opera House). The hotel is associated with the Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen's popular amusement park, and the interior design reflects this, with multi-colored disco elevators and brightly hued decor in the common areas.

The hotel is equally popular among business travelers -- drawn by the large on-site conference center and Executive floor, complete with an adults-only lounge -- and families, who choose the property mainly for its all-inclusive packages that include access to the Tivoli Gardens amusement park. The vibe is bustling year-round, with business guests and families with children mingling in common spaces. The hotel is also home to a sushi eatery popular among locals, and a striking steakhouse on the top floor, which means there is usually lots of foot traffic in the lobby, especially at dinnertime.

The Tivoli Hotel Copenhagen is situated right on the busy ring road motorway. The area is mainly home to large commercial properties, and there aren’t many shops or cafes in the immediate vicinity. However, the location is convenient for business travelers, and it's about a 15-minute walk to the central train station and Tivoli Gardens. It takes about 18 minutes to reach the National Museum of Denmark. The city center is a bit farther away, about 20 to 25 minutes on foot, which isn’t as convenient for those wanting to explore Copenhagen’s top tourist sights. Attractions such as Amalienborg Palace, Rosenborg Castle, the Little Mermaid, and Marble Church are all within a 20- to 30-minute metro ride away. A taxi from Copenhagen Airport to Tivoli Hotel takes about 15 minutes, or it’s 25 minutes by public transport.

The hotel has 679 rooms spread over two buildings -- the City Tower and the Harbour Tower. Categories range from small Standard units with queen or twin beds to spacious Suites with separate living areas and expansive views. Decor varies between rooms (even within the same category). Non-renovated units are colorful and dated, with loud-patterned carpets, multi-hued striped blankets, and cushions emblazoned with big-star designs. Renovated rooms have a more contemporary, subdued style, with a brown color palette, plush rugs over wooden floors, and metal accents in lamps and tables.

All rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, minibars, and safes. Executive units and suites add robes and slippers, as well as upgraded toiletries. These rooms also offer access to the adults-only Executive Lounge, where guests can help themselves to daily breakfast, plus snacks and drinks throughout the day. Bathrooms are compact across the board and have either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos.

Hypoallergenic and wheelchair-friendly rooms are available on request.

The Tivoli Hotel has numerous amenities for both business guests and leisure travelers. For the corporate set, the Tivoli has a large conference center with 55 flexible rooms -- the largest of which can host up to 2,400 guests. Catering services and audiovisual equipment are available for a fee. The business center is outfitted with computers and a printer that guests can use free of charge, and a large carpark shared with two other hotels offers 500 parking spaces for a fee.

The fitness center is equipped with a wide range of cardio and strength-training machines, as well as free weights, a sauna (free for guests), and locker rooms. The 16-meter indoor pool, complete with massage jets, a waterfall, loungers, and dim lights is a great spot for a few laps or some down time. For families, there’s also an indoor play area with foosball and a puppet theater, as well as an outdoor playground.

An all-inclusive package includes access to the Tivoli Gardens amusement park.

A breakfast buffet (for a fee) is served daily in the Tivoli Brasserie, which also offers fixed and a la carte lunch and dinner menus. The popular Sticks and Sushi Copenhagen Tivoli Hotel restaurant occupies the top floor of the Harbour Tower and is divided into several sections, including an area that has a mass of swings hung from the ceiling, and another one with Japanese-style floor seating. Mash Penthouse, a contemporary steakhouse, is also on the rooftop level of the Harbour Tower and offers expansive views and a terrace. The lobby bar is open for early breakfast and serves hot and cold drinks along with snacks and sandwiches throughout the day. Snacks and drinks are also available at the Bar & Lounge on the second floor of the Harbour Tower. Tivoli View is available exclusively for Executive Room and suite guests and it provides free breakfast.
