Bottom Line

Hotel Luamey is a three-and-a-half-pearl property located in the bustling surf town of Tamarindo. The hotel’s eight guest rooms are stylish yet cozy, and all have furnished balconies or terraces. The hotel's serene pool and intimate restaurant feel secluded from Tamarindo’s lively nightlife scene, yet the town’s bars, shops, and beach, can all be reached in less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The property also offers a limited gym and free parking and Wi-Fi. Travelers would do well to compare rates and amenities at the equally beautiful Tamarindo Bay Boutique Hotel nearby.

Location

On an uninspiring side street, just off Tamarindo’s main drag

While Hotel Luamey’s location down a bumpy, unpaved side road isn’t particularly impressive, it’s less than a five-minute walk from the strip malls, restaurants, surf shops, and bars that crowd Tamarindo’s main road. Tamarindo is among Guanacaste’s most popular beach destinations, known for its consistent surf and buzzing nightlife scene. Its central location also makes it a good base for surfing at nearby beaches like Playa Grande, Playa Langosta and Playa Avellanas, all of which are less than a 30-minute drive away. Rincón de la Vieja National Park can be reached in about two hours by car, while the airport is just over an hour’s drive away.
