Galini Beach Hotel

Galini Beach Hotel offers no-frills lodging in a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. The lobby has no decor to speak of, just two small rooms -- one has a front desk, and the other a couple of mismatched tables with chairs and a computer station. The grounds consist of a small grove and a largely empty concrete slab housing tables, a few loungers, and flower boxes near the steps to the beach. It's not the most appealing area, but its views of the ocean make it a popular spot to take breakfast. One of the more notable aspects of the hotel is the hospitality of the staff. A family owns and runs day to day operations, and guests report a superior level of service.

Galini Beach Hotel is on the beach of Kissamos Bay, near the edge of town yet set away from the main road in a thinly populated area. There is not much in the immediate vicinity, but a mini-mart is a four-minute walk away. There are several restaurants, shops, markets, and the Kissamos Archaeological Museum within a 15-minute walk of the hotel. A bus stop is 10 minutes away by foot.

There is free parking at the hotel, so those with vehicles can easily explore Kissamos as everything is within 10 minutes by car. The incredible Balos Beach is accessible from a ferry in Kissamos Port, a 10-minute drive from Galini. A one-hour drive will take guests to Elafonissi Beach, another stunning beach popular with tourists. About a 30-minute car ride away is Chania, which has the historic Venetian Harbor, museums, and many good restaurants. Chania International Airport is a 50-minute drive away. 

Guest rooms are basic but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Cream-colored walls and gray furniture is accented with blue seat covers, plus a small painting or two reflect the color scheme with beachy prints. Beds have white linens and are either doubles or two singles. Additional furnishings include wardrobes, chairs, and tables, while standard amenities include old tube-style TVs and mini-fridges. Some rooms also include simple kitchenettes with two-burner stovetops. Wi-Fi is free and the signal is strong throughout the building. Kettles are available but must be requested. 

Every room has a balcony, many with beautiful views of the sea and mountains beyond, though some overlook a neighboring hotel. Bathrooms are done in gray and green tile with pedestal sinks and small shelves under the mirror. Shower are tiny and have handheld showerheads. Bars of hand soap is provided, but no shampoo or conditioner; a hairdryer can be requested. 

Galini Beach Hotel does not offer much in the way of facilities. The beach is a quiet stretch of pebbly sand, lined with free loungers and umbrellas. There's no full restaurant, but breakfast is available either inside or outside on the patio that has gorgeous views of the bay. The breakfast room indoors is outfitted in blonde-wood chairs with neutral toned cushions, which are next to pastel floral prints, and bright green velvet seating. Panoramic windows allow for views of the water. Breakfast is made-to-order with choices such as eggs, yogurt, pancakes, and pastries; it's not included in room rates. The food receives positive reviews, though it lacks variety from day to day.
