Super 8 by Wyndham Los Angeles-Culver City Area

The Super 8 Los Angeles/Culver City Area is an owner-operated hotel that attracts mostly leisure travelers who want an affordable place to stay near the beaches. The two-story building is well-maintained but typical of a chain hotel, with a large parking lot in the center and stairs that lead to the second floor. There’s no elevator. There are a few palm trees, hedges, and plants to give the cream-painted building some color.

A breakfast room has swinging doors that open outward toward the parking lot and large windows that let in a lot of sunlight. There’s a buffet countertop with a waffle maker, a toaster, a microwave, and coffee machines.Casual black chairs and tables are placed throughout the room. Beside the breakfast room is the glassed-in front desk and an ATM. 

The hotel is located in Culver City on busy Washington Boulevard, next door to a church. There's a car wash and a BBQ restaurant across the street and numerous restaurants, shops, and markets in the immediate vicinity. Venice Beach is 12 minutes away by car while the Santa Monica Pier is just short of 20 minutes, as is Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.  Driving to Manhattan Beach takes around 25 minutes while Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Fame takes 40 minutes by car, depending on traffic. Downtown Culver City is 10 minutes away by car. Los Angeles International Airport takes around 15- to-20 minutes by car without traffic. 

King Rooms, Double Queen Rooms, and Suites are available at the Super 8, all of which come with poster-sized photo prints of LA, brown striped carpeting, and purple bedspreads with gold circle patterns, which collectively create a contemporary vibe. Windows face the parking lot. Peppermint candy on nightstands add a sweet touch. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and irons. Suites have lovely vaulted ceilings, dining rooms with kitchenettes, sitting areas, and dressing areas with benches. Bathrooms have modern fixtures and shower/tub combos, although bathrooms in accessible rooms have walk-in showers. Cribs are an extra charge, but children under 17 stay for free. 

The Super 8's pool area is clean and furnished with beige lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas and there's a wheelchair lift and an emergency phone on the deck. Note that the pool closes in the wintertime. In the middle of the parking lot is a small, fenced-off smoking patio that offers casual furniture and a parasol for guests. There are also snack and soda vending machines on the ground-floor near the pool. Faxes and photocopies can be made at the front desk for a fee and Wi-Fi and parking are free.
