Bottom Line

This 73-room budget hotel is in a convenient spot close to restaurants and sites, and a seven-minute drive from Cyprus’ western coast. Though amenities are limited, a pool and on-site restaurant with free breakfast check off the basics for a relaxed vacation. No-frills rooms are clean and outfitted with free air-conditioning and a small flat-screen TV, but the safe and Wi-Fi incur fees. Though a refresh is needed, the price makes this value hotel worth it for many guests. Those looking for more on-site amenities should check out Kefalonitis Apartments: Full kitchens, a sauna, whirlpool, and an indoor pool are all available.

Oyster Hotel Review

Agapinor Hotel

Scene

Clean, no-frills hotel with comfortable spaces and lovely views from some areas

This budget hotel offers guests -- primarily couples -- clean accommodations with few extras, but all the basics needed for a comfortable stay. The pool is the main hang-out spot at the hotel, though many guests spend their days exploring the island. The spacious lobby and cafe/bar offer additional lounge space, and the cafe terrace has a lovely view of the surrounding town. Guest rooms occupy the top three floors of the building, and the ground level houses the lobby and restaurants, plus a row of shops accessible from outside the hotel. The building is on a slope, which fosters beautiful views off the back of the building, particularly from upper floors.

Rooms

Basic, clean rooms with balconies and flat-screen TVs, but no fridges or kettles

These no-frills rooms offer all the basics needed for a budget vacation. Decor is generic, though a painting with some classical flair is a reminder of the island location. Ivory walls, wood furniture, and patterned carpets look dated and some minor wear is evident. Twin beds are pushed together for a double, and a couple of chairs and a table offer extra seating. Air-conditioning is free, and all rooms have a 24-inch flat-screen TV and desk accompanied by a stool. There are no fridge or kettle, and use of the safe requires a fee. Every room has a small furnished balcony, with a wall between rooms for privacy. Bathrooms have a shower/tub combo with a curtain and a small shelf for toiletries over the pedestal sink. Hairdryers and free soaps are provided, but guests should bring their own bath products.

Features

A restaurant, pool, cafe/bar with terrace seating, and a small library

Offerings at the Agapinor Hotel are simple, but clean, and sufficient for those seeking a budget-friendly vacation. A free breakfast buffet is served daily, which some guests find satisfactory, while others purchased meals elsewhere. True all-inclusive is not available, but guests may purchase a package that includes a simple buffet for meals, plus drinks in the afternoon and evening. There’s also a cafe and bar with both indoor and outdoor seating, and a terrace with a lovely view of the town and distant sea.

The pool is a nice space, overlooked by hotel room balconies on one side, and treetops and a view of the city on the other. It is a bit small, but there are a good number of loungers and a few umbrellas on the patio. A wading pool for kids is nearby. A small library is packed with books and travel guides. Entertainment is provided a few nights each week, often in the form of singers, dancers, or karaoke. Wi-Fi is free in common areas, but charged for in-room access.
