Bottom Line

This five-story property located right across the street from the beach looks like an average, not-so-new Marriott hotel from the exterior. But inside, this upper-middle-range property exudes sophistication, with an elegant lobby featuring crystal chandeliers and dark wood paneling. (Some may find the style a tad out of place in sunny Delray.) The glamorous vibe extends into the main pool area, which is large and surrounded by palm trees and several stately columns. Rooms are the highlight – spacious and modern, with balconies and beachy (but not tacky) decor. Bathrooms, however, are on the small side.

Oyster Hotel Review

Delray Beach Marriott

Location

Right across the street from the beach

As its name suggests, this hotel is located in Delray Beach. Right across the street from the beach, it is situated on Ocean Boulevard (as are most of the hotels in Delray), and is on the corner of Atlantic Avenue – home to great shops and restaurants.

Delray Beach is a nice option for those who want a laid-back version of nearby cities like Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. It has a range of hotel types (which tres chic Palm Beach lacks), it has a little bit of nightlife, but not so much as Fort Lauderdale, and it's beaches aren't as crowded as those in Miami. Delray Beach offers the scaled-down version of a Florida beach vacation -- there aren't as many cultural sights (although the Japanese Gardens in Morikami Park are a must-see), but the shopping along Atlantic Avenue can occupy visitors for a few hours at least and the Downtown Arts District features numerous galleries.

  • 28-minute drive to Palm Beach International Airport
  • 43-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport
  • 1-hour drive to Miami International Airport
  • 1-minute walk to the beach
  • 2-minute walk to Atlantic Avenue
  • 12-minute walk to Seagate Beach, a surfing and scuba-diving spot
  • 3-minute drive to Downtown Delray Arts District
  • 4-minute drive to Old School Square
  • 4-minute drive to Delray Beach Tennis Center
  • 15-minute drive to Morikami Museum and Japanese gardens
  • 25-minute drive to Palm Beach
  • 38-minute drive to Fort Lauderdale
  • 1-hour drive to Miami
