Comfort Inn Denver East

This budget-friendly hotel has a cheerful lobby that’s made bright by a three-story atrium with glass walls that usher in lots of light. The sand-colored granite floors are quiet nice as well, but brick support beams and lower, popcorn-style ceilings in the adjacent breakfast area reveal the older building’s age a bit. The lobby and breakfast area offer plenty of places to sit, from oversize armchairs to oval and square tables with comfy chairs. Despite its proximity to the Interstate, this busy hotel stays fairly quiet most of the time. Expect to see a diverse mix of guests, from multi-day Denver tourists to airport business travelers and Interstate drivers just passing through the area. 

The Comfort Inn is located just off Interstate 70 on busy Peoria Street, between downtown Denver and Denver International Airport (both approximately 20 minutes by car). There are several fast food restaurants nearby, including a McDonald’s and Starbucks that are less than a five-minute walk. A Mexican restaurant is next door, and there are hotels and commercial properties in the area. Children’s and University hospitals are about a 10-minute drive, and Red Rocks Amphitheater is 35 minutes by car. Boulder is a 40-minute drive, and Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs is 70 minutes away. Estes Park at the eastern entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park is a 90-minute drive. 

The guest rooms at this older property have been nicely updated with pleasant, modern decor. Warm earth tones dominate the color palette, with milk chocolate accent walls and bedspreads, burnt-orange bed throws, and matching wood furniture that has an amber finish. Lovely photos of spectacular Rocky Mountains scenery add a classy touch. Spaciousness is a plus -- Doubles have ample space for desks with ergonomic chairs, upholstered armchairs, and small, oval coffee tables. Larger King Suites feature in-room whirlpools and sleeper sofas. Standard amenities include 40-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have a similar contemporary look, with wide, en-suite granite vanities, shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. Despite being adjacent to Interstate 70, the rooms are relatively quiet. 

This limited-service hotel provides free food twice daily, but there's no full-service restaurant. The hot breakfast buffet features eggs and extras like gravy and biscuits, and light food and drinks are served at the nightly manager's reception, such as hot dogs, chicken tenders, and nachos. Guests also get free soft drinks and one free glass of beer or wine. For snacks, frozen treats, and microwavable entrees, there's a pantry on-site. Free coffee and tea are available all day in the lobby, and there's free popcorn in the evening.  

The indoor and outdoor pools and whirlpool are a highlight, and while there's a functional fitness center, it's in a cramped space with only a treadmill, elliptical, and a weight-training machine. Self-serve laundry facilities are on-site, and valet dry cleaning and laundry service is available. There's also a business center that has two computers and a printer, and the hotel has enough meeting space to accommodate groups of up to 75 people. Parking and Wi-Fi throughout is free, and pets are welcome with a surcharge.
