Bottom Line

The Comfort Inn Denver Southeast is a 62-room budget property in the Denver suburb of Aurora. Built in 1995, the hotel is showing its age and could use an overall update. Guest rooms are blandly decorated, but do have comfortable pillows and flat-screen TVs. Some guests report a cigarette smoke smell, and rooms have worn decor and dated appliances, while hallways are dark. A small fitness center is available, and there's a business center with two computers in the lobby. Continental breakfast and Wi-Fi are free. The location is convenient for guests needing access to local hospitals, and there are casual restaurants within walking distance, but downtown Denver is a 25-minute drive away.

Oyster Hotel Review

Comfort Inn Denver Southeast Area

Scene

Basic chain property that could use a refresh

This Comfort Inn is housed in a three-story brick and stucco building in the Denver suburb of Aurora. There's a large parking lot, and well-kept lawns with leafy trees and pines surround the building. A covered entryway with brick planters filled with colorful flowers leads into the lobby, a large space that includes a breakfast room and a seating area with a flat-screen TV. Decor is typical of chain hotels, with beige tile floors and wood furnishings with dark blue and red cushions. Brown floral carpeting and beige walls do little to brighten up the dim hallways, where maid carts and trash bags tend to linger. Many guests are in town to visit nearby hospitals and use the hotel as a convenient base.

Location

Just off the highway in the suburbs, near local hospitals

Located just off Interstate 225 in suburban Aurora, the hotel is set amidst other chain hotels and office buildings. The property is within a few minutes' walk of family-style restaurants and a 7-Eleven, and it's about a 10-minute drive from the Aurora History Museum. Downtown Denver is about 25 minutes away by car. Both the University of Colorado Hospital and the Children's Hospital Colorado take less than 10 minutes to reach by car and Denver International Airport is about 20 minutes away.

Rooms

Conveniently furnished but dated rooms with some unwanted noise

Guest rooms have convenient amenities, but updates could make for a much more comfortable stay. Decor includes corporate brown carpeting and wood furniture with touches of dark blue and red on the beds. Guests can choose either soft or firm pillows. All rooms have microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs, but the kitchen appliances are older models. Bathrooms are basic and white, with shower/tub combos. Some rooms smell strongly of cigarette smoke, and many rooms are noisy due to the freeway and office parking lot next door. Overall, guest rooms could use a refresh: stained or sticky carpets, crooked mirrors and picture frames, and dingy bathroom ceilings are common complaints.
