Bottom Line

Just outside of downtown, the Warwick Denver Hotel is an upscale pick with an elegant design and quality amenities, plus walking distance of many businesses and sights. The heated rooftop pool is a plus, and it is made more appealing with a good restaurant serving weekend brunches, a 24-hour fitness center, and pet-friendly policies. Renovated in 2017, the 216 spacious rooms are sophisticated and contemporary, outfitted with large flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and big balconies. The lack of spa services and additional fees make it worth comparing rates at the downtown Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.

Warwick Denver Hotel

Scene

Casual hotel with an upmarket vibe and quality amenities

This city hotel sits at the corner of two busy streets where grass, trees, and a small park across the street beautify the area. A black awning and Chinese lions flanking the wide, mirrored doorway give it a prestigious feel, but the look inside is more inviting than stuffy. The lobby has an understated, upscale feel, with touches like a wood-paneled front desk, a beautiful display of sculpted greenery, and fanciful wall sconces. Warm lighting, cozy furniture, and a fireplace surrounded by bookshelves have a living room vibe -- appropriate, as the Warwick calls it the Living Area. Other spaces balance a sophisticated, yet cozy design, although the rooftop pool with panoramic vistas is on the trendier side. Leisure and business travelers alike come here for the good range of on-site amenities and a location close to the sights and businesses of downtown Denver.

Location

Just outside the business district in Denver

Warwick Denver Hotel is in the North Capitol Hill District, also known as Uptown Denver. There are a few restaurants and a convenience store nearby -- about a three-minute walk away -- and the area is peppered with government buildings. It is a seven-minute walk into the business district, where restaurants and entertainment are easy to find. The 16th Street Pedestrian Mall is a seven-minute walk away, and is a popular spot with many shops and eateries running through the middle of downtown. From the hotel, it is a 10-minute walk to the State Capitol building and the Civic Center Park. The US Denver Mint and the Colorado Convention Center are about a 20-minute walk away. There are regular bus routes throughout the city, and the nearest stop is a two-minute walk down the road. The Denver Zoo and Denver Aquarium are each within a 10-minute drive of the hotel. The nearest skiing is an hour’s drive away, into the mountains east of town. Denver International Airport is a 35-minute drive away, without traffic. It's a 90-minute drive to Estes Park, gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park

Rooms

Contemporary design in spacious rooms with modern amenities

Standard rooms are large -- starting at 350 square feet -- and have an elegant, fresh feel. Gray carpeting and fabrics against ivory tones and wood-paneled accent walls create a serene vibe, while a few pops of purple and modern artwork dress up the space. Cushy beds range from full to king-size, even in lower-category room types. Many rooms have large, furnished balconies, and views from top floors are impressive. Upgrades include suites with a separate bedroom, a sleeper sofa in the living room, a wet bar, and walk-in closets. Rooms that are not yet remodeled are upscale, but dated; renovations in all rooms are slated to be finished by February 2018. Modern amenities in each room include a 49-inch flat-screen TV, minibar, coffeemaker, and iPod dock. Marble bathrooms have curtained shower/tub combos. Some higher-category rooms have whirlpool tubs and separate showers. Hairdryers and robes are provided, as are a full range of Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Features

Restaurant, rooftop pool, 24-hour fitness room, and bar

There are a good range of amenities at this hotel, however, many are covered under the mandatory resort fee. The restaurant has good meals and a quiet atmosphere, and it serves brunch on weekends. The breakfast buffet is not included in most room rates. An attached bar and lounge has a cozy fireplace, and the outdoor patio is a pretty spot for a city hotel.

The heated rooftop pool is a nice find in the city, though it is small. Modern cushioned loungers and umbrellas line one side of the pool, while chairs and small tables line the other. Views of the city are lovely in each direction. There is also a small bar, open seasonally, and food from the restaurant can be delivered poolside. The 24-hour fitness center is a bright space with plenty of modern machines, and has its own balcony. Unfortunately, there are no spa facilities.

A business center is available, and there are a few lackluster meeting rooms. While the hotel’s club members get free Wi-Fi, others pay a fee. There is some metered parking on the street, and the hotel has valet service for a fee. This is a pet-friendly hotel, also for an added charge.
