Oyster Hotel Review
A classy property and clientele to match, especially at Royal Service
This dramatic resort entrance manages to satiate Caribbean expectations right from the start. A rare view of the sea from the elegant lobby makes an impression during check-in, and guests can enjoy inventive cocktails in the comfortable lounge area. After walking down a set of wide stairs, guests can head towards luxury shops, the courtyard, restaurants, an open pool complex, and a stunning beach (where there will most likely be parasailers floating in the sky). As big as the property sounds, the grounds are not overwhelming, and a shuttle is not needed to get around.
The classy setting is relaxed and meant for all ages, though the vibe may appeal more to adults and honeymooners (The Reserve next door is more family-friendly). It's a good choice for those who never thought they would stay at an all-inclusive resort. At night, tanned guests dress up for pre-dinner drinks by the pool, in the lobby, or the Courtyard bar. Quality restaurant and entertainment options give plenty of variety, but romantics can find their own areas for peace and quiet. Specifically, Royal Service offers a peaceful pool and beach area and access to a sophisticated lounge.
A spacious beach and access to a nearby golf course
Paradisus Palma Real is in an area of Bavaro that is closer to the village of Punta Cana, and therefore closer to the airport –- about a 20-minute cab drive. There isn’t much to do outside of the resort, so most guests feel content to just stay back and enjoy the amazing beach (wake up early to check out the sunrise!) and amenities next door at The Reserve. For excursions, golfers have access to Cocotal Golf Course & Country Club, and shoppers can head to nearby Punta Cana Village.
A range of suite types with classic decor; some have kitchenettes
There are 554 suites ranging from Junior Suite to Two Bedroom options located in three-story buildings with staircases and elevators. Most guests will find it an easy walk to get to the main areas of the resort; a shuttle is not needed, unlike at other resorts in Punta Cana.
Each suite has a terrace or balcony, CD/DVD players, coffeemakers, minibars with snacks, sodas and beer (stocked daily), and a lounge area. Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort. Most suites come with mahogany furniture, marble tile floors, and sofa beds; some have spacious kitchenettes, though these are not meant for serious cooking.
Royal Service suites, which are adult-only, offer whirlpools and either ocean or garden views. These come with higher-end amenities and access to special areas of the resort, such as a private pool and beach area, and a spacious lounge with some of the best views of the resort.

Food and beverage offering is a highlight
Other than the breathtaking setting, the resort may be best known for its charismatic service and standout food and beverage program. Quality international buffet spreads for breakfast and lunch are likely to impress even the most doubting and discerning of all-inclusive resort-goers. A la carte restaurants have dress codes and include a range of cuisine types; the romantic Passion restaurant has a menu designed by a celebrity chef from Spain. Royal Service guests will have access to another option called Palazzo, which has a sunny terrace for lunch.
Pre- and post-dinner cocktails can be enjoyed at bars sprinkled around the resort, including the Avenue Bar in the courtyard where guests can sit back, listen to the fountain, and look at the stars. Entertainment in the form of music and dance occurs nightly, but it's of a grown-up variety (this is not a spring break crowd).
Workshops, sports, and leisure activities for both adults and children are available, including an adventure park with climbing wall and trampolines (located next door at The Reserve), arts and crafts, cooking classes, golf, tennis, and parasailing.
